curtins Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 My theory is you have two options if you want to stay a virgin till marriage(now a days): - You put your faith and Trust in God. You pray. You pray alot. You battle. You live chastity. You make God the center of your life and incorperate sexuality into your life the way it was meant to be. -You are such a loser that no one would ever want to have sex with you. Well maybe you could also lock yourself up in a room for the rest of your life, but we're talking real world sorta situations here. Why do I think this way you ask? Cause I hear kids say "Oh I'm waiting till marriage" after a chastity speaker just tells them about the 10 most likely to catch std's. But they're aditudes don't change. And I think they do the "try to get as close to the edge w/o falling off" sorta deal. I don't think you can remain a virgin on fear of std's cause when your trying to push as far as you can go with your girlfreind- std's are no where on your mind. Whatdoyou guys think?
Guest veritatissplendor Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 (edited) this is a good reminder of avoiding "getting as close to the edge w/o falling off"'
Do not stir up, do not arouse love before its own time. Songs 3:5
prudence - after all is a virtue. plus, studying JPII's Theology of the Body would really make anyone learn to appreciate and understand (eg. pleasant feelings being with the opposite sex, etc.) and consequenly protect their sexuality (until marriage). kudos for Love an Responsibility - i've yet to get a copy. curtins Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 hey thats more likely than locking urself in a room for ur life
musturde Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005
hey thats more likely than locking urself in a room for ur life
If the person was a loser I don't believe he'd "use religion as an excuse" as you're saying he would. If he was a real loser, he'd hire a hooker. I believe chastity is a choice. I don't think it's that hard to find someone to sleep with you nowadays. It's even become more of the guys choice than the girl's choice. Especially since a lot of the times the girl's intoxicated.
curtins Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 no im not saying he'd use religion as an excuse
Laudate_Dominum Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 My theory involves embracing Christ-like sacrificial love. When you are faced with a temptation you will joyfully reject it in sacrifice, for the sake of Christ crucified and for your future spouse.
musturde Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005
no im not saying he'd use religion as an excuse
So he'd become religious because he's a loser? Please explain you're theory, I'm a bit lost. If no one wants to have sex with you, than who would want to marry you? The dedication of marriage comes before sex. Unless you're saying that the people are using chastity as an excuse for being losers. What you should do is let your girlfriend know where the line is. It's usually the guy who pushes it and if you both have the same view of the limits, it'll make it a lot easier.
curtins Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 no I'm saying that either you follow God, pray, live chaistly etc etc etc or your such a loser that no one would even want to come near you the 2nd one has nothing to do with Religion
musturde Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005
no I'm saying that either you follow God, pray, live chaistly etc etc etc or your such a loser that no one would even want to come near you the 2nd one has nothing to do with Religion
Well, let's look book at what you orriginally wrote:
My theory is you have two options if you want to stay a virgin till marriage(now a days): - You put your faith and Trust in God.
If someone wants to be a virgen untill marriage but nobody even wants to be around him, how is he going to get married in the first place? Unless the person finds someone that's as much of a loser as him with the same mindset. lol... Now if the person was using chastity as an excuse for being a loser, that'd make more sense for you're theory but I still wouldn't agree.
curtins Posted August 14, 2005 Author Posted August 14, 2005 whoops Im dumb ok the loser is a virgin for life then I guess
Kaeldra Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 You dont have to be a loser to live chastely before marriage :-| I know a lot of people who are chaste and plan to remain so and they're perfectly normal people. I dont even understand that theory at all lol.

This is so important to remember, thanks for that L_D. Commiting a sin against chastity, such as premarital relations, makes me want to weep. When one realizes the full beauty of human sexuality and the act of the marriage bed, one wouldn't even let their mind go to the place where one commits that sin against it. I see myself as a warrior battling the evils in this world, defending my chastity until my moment of death. A quote comes to mind when I think about all of this: In all that you do, always be humble, guarding jealously the purity of your heart and the purity of your body; these are the two wings which shall raise us to God and make us almost Divine. -Padre Pio Giving in to a simple urge and moving oneself that much further from being united in the Divine? I don't think so. :boxing:

The closer I'm getting to college (tomorrow) the more I realize how much of a challenge it will be to preserve my virginity. Saint Michael, help me fight the good fight!!!
let_go_let_God Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Living as a virgin before is a gift, not a "death sentence" ( I've heard it called that from some people I know) I choose to live my pre-marital life as a virgin because my gift of self is not mine to give. The gift of myself is a gift that involves my choices and who I am, but it is ultimately held by God. At a wedding it is the union of the bride and groom as husband and wife, but it is God that truely brings them together. Imagine having two pyramids. In a relationship where a couple is untied in marrage or doesn't have sex as their base but God as their center, you have a strong base. However, if there is a couple where sex is there focus and God is rarely thought about the relationship (pyramid) can easily fall over off the point and lead to things that were not expected and more than likely an eventual breakup. Being a VTM is completely awesome and worthy to be. God bless- LGLG
curtins Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 yeah dudes the whole loser thing was kinda a joke to put emphasis on the first point
heavenseeker Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 if its something you woudn't want your parents watching you do then don't do it. thats a way of thinking if somethings ok to do befor marrage. another is if you have to think about it being the right thing to do then it probably isn't
