What year were you born in the 80's? for those born before 1986, what was your most fond memory of the your childhood? I'd ask people born past 1986 but that was 19 years ago and I'm sure most folks can't remember infant memories. If you can remember however, POST IT!

What about those of us that were born in the 70s? :)

I loved the 80s. Pure carefree childhood bliss. Except the Soviets scared the carp out of me. I worried that if Mondale beat Reagan, then the Russians would drop a big bomb on us.

My fondest memories were just being a kid, playing outdoors or with Star Wars figures. And sometimes I would play Atari and later NES. We had a pond in our front yard and I would catch frogs.

Some of my favorite (or amusing) pop culture memories were watching shows like the Electric Company, Buck Rogers, Diffrent Strokes (Whatyoutalkinbout' Willis?) the Bloodhound Gang, and 3-2-1 Contact. When the men's U.S. gymnastics team took the Olympic Gold, that was so awesome. (Of course the Soviets were boycotting....) And of course, Mary Lou Retton OWNED.

I would watch Duran Duran and other videos on MTV back when they played videos. Michael Jackson's "Thriller" was unbeatable -- and my schoolmates had crushes on him. Later 80s gave way to Transformers, of course. And I thought I was princess of everything because I had pink converse shoes in junior high. I could go on and on...

P.S. Indeed, for some reason 1984 was a really awesome year.

I was born in '84 ...yay me. lol.

I broke my arm in '88, and I distinctly remember that--but other than personal mememories that have nothing to do with the world around me, I don't remember...

Awesome!! How were the 70's?! I really want to know how the 70's were. I was born in 79 though. I like looking at all the old photos of my mom and dad with their colors. I just want to know how were the smells, the vibe, the colors... how did your eyes perceive this decade growing up?

It was veeeeery colorful... If the plaid pants I wore in my second grade class picture are any indication... :(

Actually, come to think of it, it was my first grade picture. I'm pretty sure I am wearing Sesame Street shoes in it, too. That was back when SS was still "okay" for first graders to watch without feeling like babies. It was also back when we had "school shoes" and "gym shoes" and the school shoes didn't have one inch heels like they all do now.

1984

I have a lot of memories...

My dad was in the Military so we were kinda all over. Not really but we moved four times before settling.

I remember some parts of Germany (we lived there from 1984-1986) like walking with my mom or dad.

I can't remember Fort Knox all that well. We lived there only for a few months maybe a year.

I can REALLY remember Kansas. There was this cow museum near by where you could see milking and stuff. It was cool.

Born in '87.

I hardly remember anything from the 80's (I was only 3 in '89). But considering the early 90's were still heavily influenced by the 80's era, I still felt the remaining effects of it. A somewhat similar experience when 2000 came around the corner, it still had a lot of 90's influences.
