thessalonian Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 (edited) He can excommunicate them on the spot. I'm sick of this kind of carp. Edited August 18, 2005 by thessalonian
dspen2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 one of the coalition member speaks of a need for Catholics to be able to decide for themselves what to do in regards to sexual health and reproductive responsibility. the Church doesn't argue this point -- free will allows one to decide -- but to remain a faithful Catholic, loyal to the Church, and abiding under God's Law, Natural Law, artificial contraception is a sin... PERIOD!!!!
homeschoolmom Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Good grief... they act as though this generation was the first one to ever want to have sex. ("The Church is out of touch...") People have always wanted to have sex... but people have been willing to submit to the authority of the Church and be chaste. The Church doen't conform to us (thank goodness), people's hearts and behavior have to conform to Christ.

Imagine how accountable they will be held for the people who they try to convince about these ideas. Man, I wouldn't wanna be near them when God gets a hold of 'em....
thessalonian Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 (edited) The fact is they just don't get it. People have been trying to change the Catholic Church's stand on various moral issues for 2000 years. What makes them think they will be successful. Now if I were on their side I would be a bit concerned because scripture says "the gates of hell shall not prevail". That would make them aligned with the gates of hell. Didacus Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005
O'Gorman believes that most of her peers and many Catholics believe in the use of condoms, which is why she's pushing for change. "I think the church leaders hold views that are out of touch with most Catholics and [they] promote policies that aren't smart," she said. The group has sponsored an ad campaign, "Condoms 4 Life," with the multilingual slogan "Good Catholics Use Condoms" in the Cologne subway to further the coalition's cause
promote policies that are not smart? There they go again, attacking someone's intelligence if they don't agree with their frail views. SFD!!! And I agree, the Vatican does not push 'smart' policies, they push 'Saintly' policies. I'd rather be saint than smart...unfortunately, I don't seem to have either one.
For Sister Anne, regardless of the protest, she believes young Catholics are increasingly accepting and promoting abstinence. She claims there has already been a noticeable change in attitudes about abortion in recent years. "The whole abortion-on-demand concept, if you look at young people, they're not accepting of that perhaps like previous generations before," she said.
I pray she is right... I pray she is right... Viva Benedict XVI, long may he be our pope! And, thinking of you my papa, love and hope - I thank you for both. JP the Great - forever my papa.

Somehting I like to arrogance - to think they know more on right and wrong, good and evil, than thousands of saints, popes, brilliant clergy men and woman who wrote more about sainthood than they could ever bare to read.
thessalonian Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 One other thing about condoms. STDs among the sexually active is at 50%. Now for the most part I doudt most of those who are getting STD's are Catholic so they don't follow the Pope anyway. Those who are having sex of course aren't following him either. duh. Further these people need to listen to Pam Stenzel fire off statistics. Condoms are not an effective way to reduce STDs or pregnancy for that matter. Genital contact alone can transmit STD's. Now it may reduce the russian roulette from 3 out of 6 chambers loaded to 1 out of 6 but then it will increase promiscuity. It's just nutz.

Brother Adam Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I try to drown them out. They won't go away and they won't accomplish anything ever.

I am currently in a long discussion (I'm talking months here) with my older sisters on this issue. (One of them is a lawyer, the other is a doctor: talk about rough going!). I like to keep a certain repertoire of these stats, so if you can post them... or maybe pm me?

azaelia Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 The local "Catholic" college has one of their posters hanging in the doctor's office.
