jmjtina Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 dissing and making fun of my beliefs, my faith and my religion is a complete and total turnoff no matter how gorgeous he may be. I'd throw a chankla at him.
toledo_jesus Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 seriously, he sounds like a young punk. ditch the class or defend the faith, either way it smells of elderberries unless you get over this crush in a hurry.
DeeDee Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 I'd be interested to know why this guy is to anti-God, anti-Catholic,etc. Is he against all religion or only Christianity? Usually people who "hate" anything have some problems. Hate is not natural, but taught one way or another. Maybe a little knowledge and understanding will soften his hatred and give you a chance to at least be friends. This is just an approach I would take, cuz I like to get to the bottom of things. Oh, several of my Christian and Catholic friends are married to non Christians, and they get along very well and are respectful of each others beliefs.
Theoketos Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005
He's a carbon copy of my ex except he's not as immature. This guy's only 17, my ex was 23. So that's pretty pathetic. Ohhhh I want it to work out, but he just hates God & pro life activists. I think to myself, "If I were Our Lady, would I be hanging around this guy?" And I know the beaver dam answer, it just STINKS. We've been flirting with each other for almost 2 years now.... .
Sounds VERY immature to me.
philothea Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005
I know.....but it's sooo hard. He's not healthy for me , I know. Believe me, I KNOW. I will try to stop and pray whenever I feel the urge coming up. :
I will pray for you too. I know you can do it! (And to everyone else. C'mon, don't pick on the girl! She's a convert, and believe me, it's very hard to reform established relationships and habits. I'm still working on some and it's been 14 years for me.)
cmotherofpirl Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 There are some guys [ or girls ] out there that simply turn you on. Its a psychological/biological reaction and there is not much you can do about your response. They can be saints or total jerks but they have something that triggers a deep reaction. Ignoring it doesn't work, its much easier to make a joke about it and wait til it goes away. It will go away, but eventually someone else will come along and it will start all over again. Its normal and frustrating. The trick is to separate the potentials from the jerks before you get too involved and break your heart.
Birgitta Noel Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Umm, I think Eddie was referring to the Blessed Mother in his aforementioned post, but I could be wrong.... As for the guy, I've been in a similar situation. It will pass. Don't give into your attraction, it's just a crush. Ask yourself this, "if we were to be together and get married, and have children, and I died, would I want him to raise my children?" The answer to that should make you run screaming in the other direction
LiL Kat Said Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005
Give him a
i TOTALLY know what you mean girl! and know that your in my prayers! i've just come up to the conclusion to be myself and not worry about guys and when i think about them (him) i change my thoughts and focus on being just friends with him b/c if it's meant to be then it will happen (probably later).
