Hey guys, I thought this was interesting...

I got an email from a lady named Kristal that I know from a local Christian radio station here in the DFW area. She was pretty upset about this and I thought I'd share it and see what yall think...
So, this means that my eight year old daughter who LOVES drinking her apple juice in this type of cup can easily be exposed to this comment……

I love Starbucks coffee but I’m having deep issues with this…  I’m not sure what stance I take on this.  I’m very torn for many reasons from different perspectives.

AND, people wonder why Christians create their “own” music and their “own” hangouts and their “own” magazines and their “own” well…. need I go on???

Isn’t it because we are just TIRED of this CARP* being shoved down our throats!!?  The body of Christ has been silent for too long.  The answer is to SPEAK UP….. not be offended and just ignore it.

Anyhoo… take a look.

And here's the pic she sent...

a) Starbucks smells of elderberries. Go to a local coffee shop, they are much much better and the coffee isn't bitter.

b) Life is too beaver dam short to not be honest.

It is pretty unbiased about what it puts anywhere. It supports a church in Chicago (that really needs it) and I know it also supports gay rights. Pretty much all they're interested in is more customers, which is the way of the business. I'm just glad they do help out whomever asks (meaning you might be able to get support too).

I hate Starbucks!!!

They charge the cappacino price for an espresso with foam.

I like Starbucks coffee. And I don't mind hanging out with openly gay people. So I'll keep drinking Starbucks.

*shrugs* ...this is the world. Everyone's like this, not just starbucks.

Starbucks also makes their cups from recycled paper, so that's something positive...

Ok, here's my rule of thumb for things like this. It applies to companies that support Planned Parenthood, etc. as well.

When you go to Starbucks or something like that, you are buying their product because you like the product. You're not going there to indirectly support xxx bad thing. The only exception to something like this is if it should cause someone scandal. It's just like the "eating meat sacrificed to idols" bit. In many situations, if you adhere to the idea that you can't support company yyy because it supports xxx, you'll find that you run out of options.

I do think, however, that it's admirable to boycott a company if you dislike its practices, as long as you let them know why you're boycotting them. Otherwise, you're not going to effect much, if any, change.

amen brother- thats what I figured about microsoft- I didnt buy an xbox to support Bill Gate's weird population control thing that he likes, I bought it to play halo 2 and to pwn n00bs

If ur gonna boy cott u gotta organize it big time otherwise it wont do anything.

Its like if you go to the store, and buy some beans, and you go to the register, pay, and leave, some money from those beans is paying that cashier, and what happens if that cashier just so happens to support an organization like PP or Naral or something like that? do you stop buying beans? You can't control what others do with their money, only pray for them.

My friend likes Starbucks, he thinks he has an feeling and aura that other places don't. Frankly, it feels like a Best Buy that has coffee. That is what it is, a box store.

The cup is a joke. Starbucks wants that whole "artsy" coffee house image but is kind of like a yuppie. When you have a storefront on nearly every other block, no matter what you do, are you going to get the real coffee house image.

Even the pro-gay marriage people I know, I don't really know them but there is a good number on campus so I run into them often, don't like Starbucks. Mainly it is about Fair Trade Coffee. So I am not sure who they think they are appealing to, other then those that think that they are the ones that don't go to Starbucks.

I'm not a bit surprised. Starbucks is a Seattle-based company -- a fairly liberal part of the U.S. They've probably been very liberal in their company policies for some time now -- I read an article praising them as being one of the most gay-friendly companies to work for.

I used to like Starbucks more when they were still somewhat "local" to us folks from the Pacific Northwest, back when they were a smaller business. Their stuff wasn't so mass-produced and their baked goods were better quality back then. (And their package design was more attractive...... *I'm having an art nerd moment*)

In recent years I've preferred a smaller local coffee company when I lived in the U.S. (I miss good espresso drinks already) :weep:

Whenever I'm in California, I would always get an In-N-Out burger. They're really yummy -- and it's funny because their cups have little palm trees and "John 3:16" printed on the bottom. It's cute.

What does John 3:16 say?
