theculturewarrior Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 What music would you like to hear at a wedding? I was thinking of a wedding with renaissance polyphony, like Missa Papae Marcelli, or something like that, but right know, I think I would rather hear Messe Basse by Gabriel Faure. I don't like the standard processional music "Here comes the bride." I would rather hear Nigra Sum by Palestrina. What's you're fave?
FlyLikeABird Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 THE CHICKEN DANCE SONG Ah, but that is for AFTER mass! Something classical or celtic for me, violins, harps, that kind of stuff.
theculturewarrior Posted August 27, 2005 Author Posted August 27, 2005 bump. Don't tell me I'm the only one who wants better music. :

Noel's angel Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 i never really thought of it. If I'm thinking of music, its usually Funeral music. That scares me a little

Of course I would discuss everything with my hubby to be. Meg
Era Might Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 How about "Jesus Christ You Are My Life" from WYD.
Old_Joe Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 One of my sister's had Paccabel's (sp?) Canon at her wedding. The don't allow Here comes the Bride at Catholic weddings, at least not here. Another one of my sisters had a aria from an opera. My sister Becky said it was a woman who was telling her father not to reject her boyfriend cause otherwise she'd jump from the highest bridge in town and shame the family. Personnally, I'd like "You are mine."

There was this one woman from California who I didn't really like. She was kinda rude and loud towards the Italians. She made up her own hand motions to the song. Why does this annoy me...I am not into the whole hand motion thing during Mass. If it is a concert then it is fine but not during Mass. Meg

stargirl3:16 Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 Geez, I can't fathom a wedding right now. I can't even fathom a boyfriend right now.
zabbazooey Posted August 27, 2005 Posted August 27, 2005 I don't plan on getting married. Don't really....feel called to the married life. Nu uh.
theculturewarrior Posted August 28, 2005 Author Posted August 28, 2005 I don't know. My apartment is kind of lonely. It doesn't matter, though, because I belong to the Little Flower, and I haven't asked her for her permission to date or marry or what have you. If I am called to marriage, I'm naming my firstborn daughter Therese, and I'm going to call her "my little queen." I would make this a requirement for marrying me. She likes the name Therese for a girl, or it's off. :
cmotherofpirl Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I usually sing Sunrise Sunset before a wedding, and a Wedding Song for Communion. Usually the organist sings Ave Maria when the take the roses to Mary. Pacabels Canon in D to go down the aisle, and Trumpet Voluntary for the recessional.
prose Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 I had Pachabel's Canon for me and Jesu Jesu (I think) for the bridesmaids

Era Might Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 hehe. I didn't mind the song. I just didn't like it as a hymn for Mass. Particularly when it went into Jazz mode. Jazz is definitely not suited for Liturgical reflection.
Old_Joe Posted August 28, 2005 Posted August 28, 2005 My sis ter says she's going have her wedding in Latin.
