Nah, it was our PP and he was talking about an advertisement that used to be on TV and how it showed that when something is wrong, we should fix it, even when we are afraid that the person we are correcting would hate us and reject us for it. Then he talked about it in the context of the Church and contraception, and drugs. It was quite good actually

For me it was love one another and that loving one another means correcting those who need it. Also if you have inner turmoil-you are not at peace with God, you cannot expect to be at peace with your neighbor.
Noel's angel Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 it was because the ad was for some sort of soap and one girl went up to her friend and whispered in her ear 'BO' and how, if we care for a person, we will try and help them and correct them, even if we fear they will reject us for it

That was incredibly uncharitable for him to act that way at Mass. How could he do that? Does he not understand the importance of what he was attending? It was the Holy Sacrifice. It was the re-presentation of Christ on Calvary. I hope that you were as hard on him as you are toward the people here. That was very un-Catholic of him to fall asleep. I am ashamed and saddened that you make light of a situation that is totally inappropriate. Whatever....do you now know how you sound on this board most of the time. I hope you learned something.

dspen2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 my priest, who happens also to be the vicar of the monastery here... was speaking about abortion/gay marriage and other issues that pervade american culture and how these notions are results of society falling away from thinking as God thinks.... etc... and he said, "if I have offended anyone, then I am most pleased" -- IT WAS AWESOME!!!!

You have the responsibility to show that all who attend Mass are being respecful of the Sacred Mystery that is going on at the altar. But my real point is that harshness does not win friends nor does it influence people. And the words that I spoke about your father were out of line. Much like many of your statements that you have been making. How did reading the first part of my post make you feel? Angry, confused? Well, that is what you do to others with your uneducated speak about our Faith. I hope that you take away from this little exchange the understanding that shooting from the hip doesn't work. Compassion does. Love does. But blasting doesn't.
Old_Joe Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 Fr. Buhman's homily today was about how whenever he sees the Catholic church depicted in the media, most of the time he feels he's watching a scary movie. Then he tied into Catholic Morality not being cold and heartless.
FlyLikeABird Posted September 4, 2005 Posted September 4, 2005 I watched mass on EWTN and Fr. Anthony Mary yammered on for 30 minutes minimum! Man what a homily! I had to do some more work. He was talking for so long... but it was good. Don't ask me to repeat it though, I'm too tired.
