Philippe Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 This weekend i got horribly chapped and cracking lips. Does anyone have any good cures or tricks to get rid of chapped lips. They are starting to hurt badly and it's uncomfortable... any help would be great, thanks - Philippe
Anastasia13 Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 (edited) I'm always using chapstick or blistex. I'm guessing that you don't have lipgloss, so you could use either vasiline or if you have vitamin e capsels(sp), you can poke one with a pin or fork tip or something and use some of that. A note of caution though, it can seem like heavy lipgloss, so use a little and let it soke in. If a lot comes out, it's great on scares and scabs and stuff. Birgitta Noel Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Do you have any chapstick? A dumb question I know, but that's the best solution. The medicated kind is great, it may sting a bit though if they're really chapped. If you don't have that look for any sort of lip gloss around the house, in a real pinch I use a moisturizing lipstick. I know you'll look funny if you're a guy, but it's 2:30am and I assume you're desperate if you've just posted this!! Unscented lotion can also work. Don't lick your lips, that will only dry them out more.
RC_ Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 bag balm...it works wonders on sore/chapped skin.
desertwoman Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Use some Dapper Dan. It is the superior jelly.

Colleen Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Those are all good ideas. But if your lips are really chapped, it means that you're probably not drinking enough water. Drink more water and that should help your lips to heal. Chapstick can only do so much.
Jaime Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I found that when I realized how truly despicable the Green Bay Packers were, my lips became soft and supple. Just a thought.
Ash Wednesday Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Just borrow some from the school nurse, I know she has like five sticks in her drawer!
Philippe Posted September 6, 2005 Author Posted September 6, 2005 haha well i was just in the mountains which were really dry and windy so thats most likely what is causing it but now i just need to get it to go away now that i'm back home. I put some lip balm stuff on before i went to bed but it didnt really get better, probably worst.
annie Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Our orthodontist recommends A & D ointment, available in baby section of drugstore, and it works!!!
Dreamweaver Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Carmex is actually drying in the long run. I always have a stick of chapstick with me. The best stuff I ever found was called Lipivo in a vanilla flavor. Mmmm. If you're truly desperate and have no access to lip stuff, you can use butter or hand lotion in a pinch. ONLY if you're really desperate...
franciscanheart Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Drink lots of water, don't lick your lips or bite them, and try Burt's Bees.
Theoketos Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I have you tried the intercession of the Saints for the Healing power of Christ?
Honour Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 I have a lip balm collection. I am a coagulated milk puff.
prose Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Put on lots of vaseline before bed. In the morning you will have a new set of lips.
