Theologian in Training Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 It has to be done. I am a tech junky. I love all things tech. I am in the process of building one of the fastest and strongest computers. I am the head of the Computer Committee at the seminary, and upon my return was probably asked about computers from all different seminarians and priests about all sorts of computer problems, probably about 10 or 12 different people. I know "we have here no lasting kingdom," but I do love technology. Anyway, case in point, I am completely fascinated by the new ipod nano http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/ which was released this past week. The thing looks phenomenal, and comes in black...what seminarian / deacon / priest does not like black? Have you seen this thing, it is in the process of replacing the ipod mini. God Bless Apple for their amazing technology.....they also released itunes 5.0 Let us thank God for our great technology
Dudette Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Man I want an iPod. Then again, who doesn't. haha.
stargirl3:16 Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 dude, that's sweet... iTunes 5.0? *runs off to update her iTunes*

I have the 40 gig ipod, you know the one they phased out as soon as I got it for Christmas...the one with the monochrome screen Anyway, the nano looks awesome and the new look of itunes 5.0 is really nice. Just wait until they release the video ipod everyone has been speculating about That will be crazy. BTW, all the parts for my monster computer came this past week. Now I just need to go meet up with my uncle, mount the motherboard, and start connecting this thing up. I cannot wait! God Bless Edited September 11, 2005 by Theologian in Training

Paladin D Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Wow Theo, I'm into computers too. The iPod nano does look amazing, but I'm sticking with my old-fashioned portable CD player for now. Would rather save up to build a monster, desktop computer. Plus, I don't have a huge music library anyway.
Philippe Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005
your right, that is old...time for an update
maybe the video ipod :\ theres nothing thats really jumping out at me right now, the only thing mine cant do is the color screen... i can live without it
IcePrincessKRS Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I love the IDEA of an iPod, but I don't think I'd ever use it as much as I think I would, so it would be a total waste of my money.
Philippe Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 ive gotten so much use out of this device. I definitally go through times when i hardly touch it but its those long 3 hour drives every weekend to the mountains or those plan trips that really make this thing worth it.
Theologian in Training Posted September 11, 2005 Author Posted September 11, 2005 (edited)
I HATE IPODS.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion I actually use my ipod a lot. In fact, I have created a playlist of mostly Christian music, some coldplay and other bands, entitled, "sermon." With that music in the background I have written all of the sermons you have heard. I wrote the most recent wedding one while listening to Shawn McDonald and David Crowder in the background. Wrote the one on the cross with Third Day's "King Of Glory" in the background, and wrote the one about Hurricane Katrina with the David Crowder Band's song "Deliver Me" in the background. I also use it to listen to music on my way to my parish, the seminary, or home. In other words, I use it a lot and am glad to have it. BTW, I am building a monster desktop computer, that will have Media Center on it, with the AMD dual core, 2gigs of Corsair memory, a 256 Chaintech GeForce 6800 vid card with SLI support and HDTV out, an Asus A8-N Premium mobo that suppots up to 4 gigs of memory. And, for right now am throwing a SATA II 250 gig Western Digital HDD with a 16mb cache...will prolly get another one later on and RAID the two. Also, may do the same with another Geforce card down the road as well. There you have it: A Monster computer BTW, so you don't think I am spending a lot of money for this thing, know that I searched out the best price on each and every part, and so far it costs about the same as going out and buying a brand new computer, without all the proprietary software and all the bells and whistles that make it look good but still run bad. God Bless Edited September 11, 2005 by Theologian in Training
sweetpea316 Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Oh my goodness...I just saw a commercial for them. WOW. I want one real bad. Now I'm kinda glad that I didn't buy one yet...should've known that they'd come out with a better version. I might just have to invest in one now...
Philippe Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 they will always come out with better versions. If you buy the nano now, there gonna come out with something better in a few months. You just need to buy one and expect that it wont be the best forever and enjoy it how it is
Noel's angel Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 What is so great about ipods anyway? They have nothing that most other mp3 players have anyway, plus the design looks cheap and tacky

Do you have one or have you ever had one? It is one of those things that if you have one you know the joy of owning one, if you don't, then no explanation can suffice God Bless
Noel's angel Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I have never had the desire to own one, but many of my friends have them and I have used theirs before. I don't see what is so special about them. They don't do anything that other mp3 players can't do
