i would really like an ipod. i think their really spiffy and since I have to drive and study so much they would be a really great thing to have. If I had the dinero and were more into the downloading stuff I might.

right now a laptop is one on my list teehee

i'm actually a temporary technology computer at a nearby catholic school and its been so much fun...i like technology and teaching it is even better. :D
BTW, I am building a monster desktop computer, that will have Media Center on it, with the AMD dual core, 2gigs of Corsair memory, a 256 Chaintech GeForce 6800 vid card with SLI support and HDTV out, an Asus A8-N Premium mobo that suppots up to 4 gigs of memory. And, for right now am throwing a SATA II 250 gig Western Digital HDD with a 16mb cache...will prolly get another one later on and RAID the two. Also, may do the same with another Geforce card down the road as well.

There you have it: A Monster computer ;)

On another note, have you also heard of Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com? They only have five outlet stores in the country (they're mostly an online business), but I'm fortunate enough to live not too far from one of the five stores (which is in Raleigh, NC, an hour drive away). :D:

Tigerdirect.com is pretty awesome, my dad ordered my computer from there. Eh...the computer isn't the best but whatever.

I want an mp3 player, but I am not sure I want an iPod. The only good thing about iPod's that I know of is that they interface with iTunes and iTunes is easy to work with (as opposed to half the other media players I have used). However, I don't have the cash to cough up for one, I just want a cheap mp3 player with a decent drive. I don't have a ton of music, but what I do have, I always transfer to my computer so I can listen there. There are times though that I would use an iPod or whatever, ie mowing or working or out for a jog.

However, I think the mp3 player, esp the iPod because it really was the first to go mainstream, isn't the best thing in the world. I walk around campus and nobody is talking to anyone, they all have those ugly headphones on. I go on a bus trip with the kids from Grinnell, as soon as the bus pulls out of the parking lot they all put their iPods on and listen away. Sure, I would like to be able to listen to music whenever, but I think when it starts to get that bad and impeds conversation something should change. It is only a few minute walk to anywhere on campus, you can walk it without needing music or you could walk it with a friend (or better yet, walk it with someone you don't know) and talk to each other. College campuses are becoming more and more of "solitary" places. I go out and everyone is iPoded to heck or on a cell phone. It is rather sad.

Dang!

What are you going to be doing with that!?

Doom 3? ;)

Now if you really want to be a power user, you have to switch to Linux. :D: At least dual boot...

The iPod Nano is so cute... I kinda liked the mini, though, with all the colors it came in. I wonder if the Nano will come out in pink too. ^_^

I ordered the video card (pci express 16 btw) from newegg, the case, psu, and cpu from pc alchemy, the memory and hdd from monarch computers.

I like pc alchemy's prices, they are a little better than newegg, but are specific to HTPC. I like monarch's reasonable prices as well. Actually, I will be getting an HDTV tuner card and MCE 2005 from Pc Alchemy and still need to find someplace to get a DVD -+RW

No, but I have tried Doom 3....I am actually waiting for the new Age of Mythology.

As to Linux, let me successfully get MCE 2005 on it before thinking about dual boots and all the rest. I wonder if my old partition magic would work on it though.Worry about that one later.

God Bless
