Paladin D Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 If a woman wants to be priest... ... why can't I be a nun? If a "progressive" Catholic disagrees, then women can't be priests. We have to be fair to both sides. This all started when I watched Sister Act.
Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Yeah, Sister Act kinda makes me wanna be a nun, too. Just kidding...Jennie wouldn't like that.

There is a reason they are called brothers! Same with priests!)
Thy Geekdom Come Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I wanna go out on a limb here and say this: Women can be priestesses. ...however, Jesus didn't ordain any of those, so it's a moot point... :

Brother Adam Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I'll accept women priests when i can naturally give birth to a child.

son_of_angels Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 I suggest you simply start chanting the psalms in falsetto. Perhaps that will allay your desire.

Women would do a much better job of running the church, and for that matter, the government too. It'll happen, just wait and see.

It's dogmatically defined. The Church does not have the ability or authority to ordain women. See Ordinatio Sacerdotalis, section 4. Besides, even if women do have managorial skills that exceed mens (this is up for debate, but I think it's more complex than that), this doesn't matter. It's a vocation, not a job. The Lord calls those He wishes to qualify...He doesn't choose those who already are qualified.
