it really bugs me when people talk before Mass, but it doesn't bother me if they talk after Mass has ended.

I like what Franics Cardinal Arinze said at World Youth Day 2005:

It is good to greet other people. Why not greet them directly outside of the Church.

I don't mind the before so much as I do the after. It's hard to offer thanksgiving with a loud roar in your ears! (not, mind you, that I haven't been guilty of both)

It drives me bonkers when people just 'chat it up' in the sanctuary. That is why I love St. Peters. People don't get up and run out of the santuary as soon as the recession has gone by, nor do they get really noisy like it is a reception hall. Most people stay and pray for 5-10 minutes and mediate on the Eucharist. It was so incredibly distracting at Holy Family today I didn't even receive. People were constantily getting up and leaving and coming and talking through the whole mass. completely distracted me I was hardly even able to focus on the priests words.

does anyone pray (as a group) the rosary before or after Mass?

other
ask questions that get me confused.

Both really bug me.

People at my parish think it's social hour before, after, and during Mass. It's almost impossible for me to pray because the noise level is so high -- it's just too distracting. Mass just seems to be a place to catch up with friends for a lot of people. :( It just makes me sad because I think many people have forgotten why they are there in the first place, which is to catch up with the Best Friend anyone could ever ask for in the world.

I really do think that people have forgotten the meaning and value of silence.

people talkin durin mass, after i can understand cuz of YG is starts at 6 on sunday and thats after mass

both bug me, but I am more likely to be guilty of the after Mass. That's why I either stay a long time in prayer (meaning don't bother me) or hurry to get outside. (If I see alot of family/friends who want to talk.)

the during Mass is a NO NO.

Ha ha! This happened to us when we were at St. Paul's Outside the Walls and it echoed through the ENTIRE building! But it was a very quiet and reverant place though! ^_^ I love silence, especially right after Holy COmmunion! But it is hard when they keep playing the darn piano and guitar... And funny, I never can concentrate on prayer at my home parish with my mother or without her, but it is harder with her around.

Sorry...going totallyoff topic here...

 classic... and we JUST got new Gather hymnals and we were all asked not to let the little children play with them or if anyone is treating them improperly, to ask them to be nice to the books...

Anyway, I hate when people talk during any part of Mass. If you want to talk, do it outside.

It just really bugs me!

I'm not completely against talking before and/or after Mass. Quietly communicating something to the person next, with good reason, is fine. But Mass is not social hour, and neither the sanctuary or the nave are a social club.... Go to the narthex/ parish center/ outside, etc.

However, I'm not too hard on whisperers because I want parishioners to create a sense of community. Like many converts, to me the average parish can seem a bit lonely and unfriendly. Friendliness and fellowship are very important, but they can occur without infringing upon the maintaining of proper reverence and adoration at Mass.

i have a problem with both. take it outside.

I for one can say it does not bug me, as long as the conversation is pertinent (don't talk about your fishing trip). I talk during mass often, mostly to let my son know whats going on, or to run after my 2 year old who might be acting up that day.

People drinking beer in the confessional, now that really bugs me.
