Extra ecclesiam nulla salus Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 they might be wrong but they are not idiots.
Brother Adam Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 If they know the truth, and they firmly reject it, they are not invincibly ignorant. It is an idiotic move to make.
homeschoolmom Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I think calling the person an idiot or a morron is not charitable. Calling a person's actions idiotic, however....
StatingTheObvious Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 It's idiotic to knowingly do wrong. It's not idiotic to be committed to doing what you believe is right, even if others believe it's wrong. Right or wrong, it's idiotic to go against your beliefs.

Wait a minute ... there are things that are objectively and absolutely wrong regardless of whether people think they're right. Those 9/11 hijackers, for example, were committed to doing what they thought was right. Would you say they were right not to go against their beliefs? I hope not! While they thought they were doing right, they were actually doing wrong -- VERY wrong! There's no justifying what they did regardless of what anyone else may think.
