I just heard an advertisement for Freemasonry on the radio. They blabber about how the great men throughout the centuries were freemasons, and if there is greatness in you, visit their site, and join the Masons.

One of the FAQ on their site:

[quote]15) I heard Catholics cannot become Masons, is that true?

Freemasonry has always welcomed members of any faith, including Catholics. Today, there are many, many Catholics – as well as Jews, Muslims, and members of every race and faith who are Masons.

no offense to your friend or their dad, but I hope they weren't in the Lincoln Diocese.

I wish I could remember the name of it but I can't.
I think there is an encyclical that teaches about Freemasonry.

And no Catholics can not be Masons.

The Masons may accept Catholics, but as Catholics we don't accept Masons.

I have a friend who converted to Catholicism who formerly was a Baptist and a member of Prince Hall, a branch of the Masons. He was a third generation Mason, and left when he became Catholic.

I'm told that some of the higher beliefs of the Masons are Anti- Catholic.

I was watching T.V. last night, and there was a similar commercial for Freemasonry.

It looks like the Masons are infiltrating the networks! :detective:

oooo... Masons are sooo bad. And what is worse is that they are disguised as good.

Then he was excommunicated.

Freemasons may accept Catholics, but Catholics refuse (as they should) to accept freemasonry.

I tried reading that encyclical by Leo XIII, it's so hard to read...it makes my head hurt! :getaclue:

I need to find a "condensed version" :P:

Most definitely. Quite scary.

Of course Freemasons accept Catholics-- Baptists accept Catholics too.... as soon as you convert! :P:

Of course, that doesn't answer the question at all...it's very cleverly worded.

There are a lot of masons around here. My uncle is a mason (which is kinda weird no he isn't Catholic he's not anything really)

I think that National Treasure might have helped it was an entertaining movie but Knigts Templar = Freemasons?? I don't think so.
