it dumped 10.8 inches on my city. many people are still without power (myself included). when i left for work, we still didn't have power and hadn't had power since 10:30pm last night. and the power company has no idea when power will be restored. it was a wet, heavy snow, so many tree branches broke on top of power lines, many transformers are out, etc. please pray. it was cold last night, but we had lots of blankets. hopefully they will have the power back on by tonight.

Yuck!! Snow!!!!!!!

Don't remind me it's coming. :(

I kinda miss snow... I think.

(Trying to remember snow. White, cold, etc. Got it.)

The tourist leaf-peeping season began last weekend. None of the trees have changed color yet! It's near 90 and humid!

I wrote the date down in some notes yesterday, and I couldn't believe "October" was actually correct.

Back on topic, bummer about the power outage, Red! I hate when that happens!

I hope they get it fixed up soon. Prayers.

We got hit with alot of rain. They said it was the worst flooding in 20 years on the south and east sides of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

i know...from the local paper:
The first storm of the season buried much of Montana in heavy, wet snow. Wibaux County reported 16.5 inches and early this morning, a trained weather spotter measured 18 inches of snow three miles east of Pryor in Big Horn County. In Pryor itself, the total was 14 inches.Fourteen inches was also reported at Ekalaka and near Sonnette in Powder River County. Colstrip was not far behind with 13.5 inches. Most of Carter County, including Ekalaka, had 12 inches, as did Volberg in Custer County.

A blizzard warning remains in effect in Wibaux and Dawson counties through 4 p.m. with winds gusts of 40 mph expected in some areas.
guys, this is kinda of bad. especially with energy prices going through the roof, many families could be very cold this winter, not being able to afford gas/power bills. this could be an early indication of a bad winter to come here in my state.

we still don't have power at home, and maybe won't get it until midnight at earliest, tomorrow some time at latest. it's going to be colder tonight, so if you could say a prayer for me & hubby, we'd appreciate it.

Oh no! :cold:

The pictures look pretty, but I suppose that's not much comfort.

Prayers!

Do you have a fireplace or anything else non-electric to keep warm with?

Posted

not really. you have to be super careful with propane heaters, cause w/o proper ventilation, you can die. so that's bad. we're just going to snuggle down with lots of blankets and work a little harder on that whole "Pope tells Catholics to have more kids" thing. :P:

Sounds like a plan!

I feel for you, this last January in Kansas several hundren thousand people lost power, I was out for about 8 days. It got real cold, luckly I had a retreat with the Archbishop during that time, so I only ended up spending four days by my fireplace, and working extra shifts to stay warm.

Prayers
