[quote name='Snarf' date='Oct 7 2005, 02:08 AM']Actually, it's illegal in the US for parents to give their children alcohol.  It's just that such a law is so asinine that it's never enforced.  However, there's been increased interest in parties wherein alcohol is served while parents are present.  Such parents have been getting into big trouble, even if only their own children are drinking.

No, it's illegal for parents to give thier children's friends alcohol. If you are at home, your parents can allow you to have alcohol.

Somehow, after turning 21, I still can't seem to drink unless I want to go to Canada (the bridge is an hour away) because so many of our friends are underage, and we don't want to go out to drink (moderately) unless we have a group.

According to your profile it's the 26th, 2 days before my baptismal anniversary and 3 days before my sister's birthday. I'll try to remember.

Poor you. With me it was more the opposite: I joined a roughly 18-25 youth group when I was 17, so on the rare occasions when they wanted to go to a bar or pub after our meetings I would go home. Of course, I probably didn't have to, but it was fun in the same way that refusing to cross the street unless it was green was fun. And besides, it meant I got to get home earlier, or rather, not as late.

For some reason, that doesn't seem to happen either. A friend hada birthday, we had a beer, and that's about it. What kind of Catholics are we? :lol_pound:
