Me too, but some people would probably call me dumb.

Well, when they are suffering relationship problems because they slept with more than one partner, then they'll wish they had ABSTAINED.

Virginity is a dirty word to Liberals.

When will the culture of death hurry up and die?

Probably when a plague (similar to the one during the middle ages (?) ) wipes out half the earth and the population has to be built up again.

Oh wait, we're having one of those right now - its called Abortion.

That article defies common sense.

Here's the poster that was made in response to the Good Catholics use Condoms poster (within 24 hours).

And here's the horrid poster. http://www.condoms4life.org/images/image2.htm
There were others in different languages as well. I felt like making a sticker saying 'All attempts at a life of virtue have a high failure rate. Good Catholics ask forgiveness and strength and try again'.
But I really like the 'Free Catholics make a REAL choice'.

I'm not against sex ed - I'm just against the tactics that PP uses to get teens to HAVE SEX. Meaning I;m against graphic "How to have sex" education which is what THEY teach. And its not going to lower abortion rates by teaching them to have sex!

That's the answer I'd love to say in that abortion thread on force.net where mostly everyone there in the senate OPPOSES abstinence because........oh I don't know.......because it means that 14 year olds can't have sex with every boy they meet..............

that poster was gross. Good catholics accept life's little miracles would be a good poster to counter that and show a mother and her children.

that's true. liberals and those who suppor all forms of abortion [whether trimester, 3month, 2wks] are all wrong and need to change before it's too late. Absitnence is the way to go UNTIL you are married if u gonna marry.

While I'm 100% for abstinence-only programs, I'm not necessarily all for the way they are taught now. I'm not totally sure what they do, but I know what they shouldn't do.

1. Get rid of the virginity pledges. This has always seemed ridiculous to me and falls into the category of public act of righteousness. Much like how Jesus tells us to pray in our own houses and to not let our right hand know what our left hand is doing, chastity is something that must be strengthened from within. If you make a promise between you and God then when you are feeling tempted your partner in the promise will be there for you and will always be strong. The virginity pledge is more between you, your classmates, and maybe God if you aren't at a public school. Its easy to sign a pledge or even say a pledge, but if that's as far as the school is going then there isn't an emphasis on living the pledge. Even if you take your pledge seriously, if you see other people ignoring it and sleeping around, it won't be a reliable source of strength when temptation comes. While support from others is great and often needed, the support should not be allowed to be eroded.
2. Teach kids about healthy relationships. I think when we have to compare a system that teaches a boy to slap on a rubber when his girlfriend is naked before him or to concentrate hard and say no to the naked girlfriend, we really have two horrible systems. How to avoid occasions that lead to sex should be taught. A kid taught abstinence only may be thinking the make-out session while the parents are out for the evening is nothing, but temptation can sneak up on him very quickly and he's put into a bad situation.
3. Since no list would be complete without at least a third point, I suggest that accurate information be presented, at least at the appropriate ages. Sex-ed at first should be oriented around the biological roles and later in high school focused more on relational and social roles. Even the subjects of STD's and contraception should be approached when the children are at a maturity level to handle them. Pretending that contraception doesn't exist won't make it go away and having accurate information such as the failure rates and what BC pills do to your body will counter information given by Planned Parenthood. Good analogies to these failure rates and effects should be presented to drive home the points. Blatant scare tactics such as the worst case scenario will always happen and grotesque pictures should be avoided as it will erode the credibility of the sex-ed presentations when kids find out that things aren't nearly as bad as they were told. Kids can be affected well enough by the truth.

Abstinence should always be the only thing promoted and children should know that 'safer sex' has just as many negative consequences as unprotected premarital sex.

It seems that the ones not protected were torn down or torn in a shape of a cross within very little time. I don't know, though, since I arrived Tuesday night (I think) and the only ones I saw were the protected ones.

No kidding. I can kind of understand using them to get kids hyped about abstinence, but as far as accomplishing anything in the long run, they've got to be pretty useless.

You've just gained three 'coolness' points in my book.

Yes, I keep a list. You are all on it.
