I  the Liturgy of the Hours!

It is at the top of the list in fruitful prayers!

My friends and I almost always (college schedules sometimes create exceptions) pray Night Prayer together.

I find it confusing

But when I was visting the Carmelites, I loved it! They sang it!

The Brothers of St. John did too. It was a wonderful experience. :)

I have been saying it since college.

I used to pray it when I was in college, but I've gotten out of the habit (and don't have the magic page number booklet for this year :( ) I should get back into it, it is very fruitful! :)

When I did pray it, I loved it! Almost too much though, I started to get prideful about it...silly me!

It can be confusing, that's why we began with just Night Prayer primarily. Sometimes we do Evening Prayer, but we don't have a commitment to it during this season of our lives.

Yeah, that's how we started in college too. Night prayer is the easiest to figure out, the shortest, and I personally think the most beautiful. :)

I pray morning, evening, and night prayer every day. At the Newman Center in Lincoln, we even have the privilege of having exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on Wed. when the priest leads us in praying night prayer. I love it, but now I cannot go because I have Bible Study at 10pm on Wed. nights now. Liturgy of the hours isn't that difficult once you get used to praying it regularly.

That's true. It's an easy habit to get into.

However, sometimes I wonder if spending so much time in prayer is too luxurious. It makes me feel so good!

It's why I always use this smilie: :D:

I love Liturgy of the Hours. It is the most beautiful, peaceful, reflective prayer.

I'm so thankful that I was introduced to it early on.

btw - for those who find it hard to follow in the actual book there is an online version that goes in order, no page flipping. ;)

I really need to get back into the habit of praying the Liturgy of the Hours. It kept me so sane last summer!

Depending if you use Christian Prayer or the four books, in Christian prayer, if you know what sunday in ordinary time we are in, go to it, and it'll tell you it corresponds with whatever week.

Also, I love the LOTH

Thanks for the tip, Eddie! Now I can pray the LOTH again without buying that silly little cheat sheet. :) That makes me very happy!

Also be sure to check the back with the saints, if there is a saint do as it instructs, Ie: Pray the Common of Martyrs, the Common of Martyrs will say after this invocation go to Sunday of Week One prayer, just make sure for the antiphons you switch back tot he common of martyrs, and usually there will be readisngs, responsory, and petitions specific to the martyrs don't use the sunday of week one of thosse.

I have not missed a day since 1994. I love the Divine Office.

The Common of the Martyrs really put things in perspective for me. (Saint Ignatius of Antioch was yesterday, for the uninitiated). I realized that I have a long way to go! But martyrdom is such a beautiful thing. I thought I was ready for it just a couple of weeks ago. But I've got a long ways to go.

BTW: So far, it is my favorite Common
