MilesChristi Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I used to pray three or four Offices every day, but since I started college I've had difficulty fitting it in. I really need to start setting my alarm earlier and getting to sleep sooner...
Andrea348 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 i was introduced to it in college. we said evening prayer after daily mass. the preist always looked forward to saying it with people since he usually prays it alone. it was confusing at first, but it is easy when you have someone to help you at first. i had gotten into saying night prayer at one point too, but i got out of the habit.
the_rev Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005
The Common of the Martyrs really put things in perspective for me. (Saint Ignatius of Antioch was yesterday, for the uninitiated). I realized that I have a long way to go! But martyrdom is such a beautiful thing. I thought I was ready for it just a couple of weeks ago. But I've got a long ways to go. BTW: So far, it is my favorite Common
I'm partial to the Common of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Pope St Clement 1 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 I love the Liturgy of the Hours. In our Perth branch Night Prayer is part of our prayer schedule but I still try to do it even when I'm back in Pemberton. It's a beautiful way to finish off the day. Once on one of my days off I tried to do the whole Liturgy of The Hours. I particularly like the Office of Readings.
theculturewarrior Posted October 21, 2005 Author Posted October 21, 2005 Should I feel guilty if I miss an Hour?

theculturewarrior Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 When you make the Sign of the Cross for the Gospel Canticles, do you say, "In the name of..." or is it just the motion and if so, does it come in between the Antiphon and the Canticle, or is it just silently as you begin the Canticle?

theculturewarrior Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 Thanks! I didn't see the answer to my question, although some of the links were taking a long time to resolve and were presumed "dead." (Including the General Instruction). I actually have a hardcopy of the rubrics in my possession but they are a bit overwhelming to sort through. An HTML version would be awesome!
