umm... I'm not so good at this, but here goes...

here's a site with some ... Catholic humor

and my friend sent this to me once, it's a list of the "worst analogies ever" found in high school English papers:

"His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.

Her hair glistened in the rain like nose hair after a sneeze.

The children heard the grandfather clock ticking. It sounded exactly unlike the digital clock in their bedroom.

He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes?

Joey was as hungry as a famished locust that had not eaten in days.

The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn't.

From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and "Jeopardy" comes on at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30.

Her eyes were like two brown circles with big black dots in the center.

Bob was as perplexed as a hacker who means to access T:\flw.quid55328.com\aaakk/ch@ung but gets T:\flw.quidaaakk/ch@ung by mistake.

Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever.

Mary was as interested in Joey as she was in a two-day old tuna sandwich left on the kitchen table, hidden by a dishcloth. This perplexed Joey.

He was as tall as a six-foot-three-inch tree.

Her date was pleasant enough, but she knew that if her life was a movie this guy would be buried in the credits as something like "Second Tall Man."

Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.

They lived in a typical suburban neighborhood with picket fences that resembled Nancy Kerrigan's teeth.

John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.

The red brick wall was the color of a brick-red Crayola crayon."

Our Lady is praying for you!

Take a deep breath. Pray the Jesus Prayer. Remember that you can't hurt the people around you the way you can animals and birds and stuff.

<nerd talk> maybe you're trying to connect on the wrong port? the usual one is 5190 but sometimes that one is down so you have to play around with the connection settings </nerd talk>

I'm actually a vegetarian (practically, at this point), because I love animals.

How do you change ports? I don't even know where to find a "port," other than a USB port.

It's a different kind of port. You don't have to do anything to your computer...

I'm trying to remember how one does this, since I'm using Linux now... when you are about to sign on with AIM, there should be some kind of "settings" or "connection" thing that you can click, and it takes you to your connection settings. There should be a place (i'm not sure what it's called or what you click) where you can check your connection. Something will pop up and it goes through all the different ports. That usually will fix your problem.

you don't. what you want to do, is allow AIM to check for ports that are open.

In your connection preferences, there should be a button that you can click that allows you to check for available connections (is that it?) or something like that

perhaps this is why I'm not working in tech support right now

If Jesus changed water into wine, you could change the port back into water...
