Come on we talk about it every year.

Thoughts? Comments? Do you celebrate Halloween? Do you think it too rooted in pagan influences? Do you avoid certain costumes such as witches and devils?  Do you think everyone should just lighten up and pretend for a night and get free candy?

There are a few other threads that have covered Halloween already.

So, there are like 50 million squirrel threads, why can not we have more threads on halloween? :idontknow:

No one comes to my house on halloween because there are no kids in my neighborhood and it is scary and I would carp my pants if I trick or treated there. Besides, it's all old people anyway.

It's so nice, because no one can prank me at my house. :yahoo:

Definitely!

What do I care what the pagans did? *shrug* It's a giant holiday devoted to playing 'pretend' like we did as kids (who didn't play at being a dad..a mom..a doctor, etc?)

Do you avoid certain costumes such as witches and devils?
No. It's supposed to be a creepy holiday. Why limit myself? I've never dressed up as a witch, though. In kindergarten, I did dress up in a giant box I painted green & wrote "booo", "grrrrr" and other 'scary' phrases on it. lol

Do you think everyone should just lighten up and pretend for a night and get free candy?
Amen!

Halloween is awesome! I've never understood quite why many fundamentalists call it evil due to its pagan roots. You can say the same thing about Easter and Christmas.

To me, Halloween is a party day! I'd be perfectly happy if I could dress up like a freak every day of the year, but its more fun when you can do it with friends. Heh, I'm reminding of a time when my boyfriend and I "corpsepainted" up, wore leather and chainmail, and went to the mall to hang out. We found a couple whos car got a flat tire and tried to help him. Never before had I seen a lugnut so rusted on! We tried helping, although they had to get a tow.

Random acts of kindness dressed as a freak, its wonderful.

I love halloween. I love doing the house in scary decor with the music and all. I love handing out candy, when I can. I love dressing up with my kids and trick or treating in the neighborhood and seeing how much fun they are having like I did as a kid.

Whatever Halloween used to be back when, it is not anymore. I see it as the most innocent of childhood experiences. Playing pretend and getting free candy from your neighbors is a great time... and the kids have fun too. :D:

I love candy...they should rename Halloween to "Free Candy Night," and then the FundaMENTALs wouldn't whine...

I spend all of my October weekends running a haunted building  .
People pay me to scare whatever I can out of them
:D:

We have no witches or devils.
Zombies and ghouls do the trick every time. :)
