cmotherofpirl Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 [quote name='annie' date='Oct 29 2005, 08:58 AM']Photosynthesis-- That is EXACTLY what has been happening at the beginning of all this---I mean, we were clueless why she was being SO disobedient, sassing us, screaming, uncooperative etc---our only way of dealing with that was to ground her, etc. When it didn't 'shape her up' (like good discipline usually does--) we sought help. I guess part of depression is antangonistic behavior (not just lethargy, listlessness, sadness etc). We just didn't realize that was part of it, and are so very sorry for not catching on. It has been about 6 weeks or so. Please pray for us-- this Wednesday we see the Psychiatrist, and pray she will be helpful and understanding. But thank you, photosynthesis, as I don't know your age, but assume you are closer to my daughter's age than mine---you have given great insight. Sometimes one just seems permanently mad at the world.
ofpheritup Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 My mother sends her prayers. She raised 8 children. We had 5 go thru "teenaerism" together. 2 girls and 3 boys. And then 3 girls go thru it. The 3 girls were the last in the family. MY POOR MOTHER....SORRY MOM. She had one rule. You can be who ever you are, ask whatever you want. Be upset about whatever it is you want to be upset about. BUT YOU WILL AT NO TIME IN MY HOME SPEAK RUDELY TO ME. She said, "I understand hormones, rude, no rude I do not understand. You may not be able to control your hormones, BUT YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR MANNERS." : If we were at the point when it looked like "rude was going to win" we went outside and talked to the trees. When we were "reasonable" again we went back in the house. THANKS MOM
