Moderators Wanted

I've decided to try the moderator thing again (since it's not possible for me to read every post in every thread).

I'll assign one moderator to each separate board (or category).

The moderator responsibilities:

- make sure topics are applicable to the board posted in (if not, move them to the correct board)

- move "out of hand" threads to the Back Alley

- delete posts containing profanity, vulgarity or pornography

What a moderator does NOT do:

- edit other member's posts

- delete other member's posts (unless it contains profanity, vulgarity or pornography)

- be a dictator

If interested, please send me a private message or e-mail with the board(s) you'd be willing to moderate. If I have more people volunteer to moderate than boards available, I'll base the decision on seniority. haha

Ok, the pope used to select Bishops by noting who the people thought would be a good bishop. . .. so here it goes . . . (By the way, I think we should call them Bishops not moderators, Episcopoi, the greek word for bishop means OVERSEER, cool huh)

here's my message to dUSt. i'm posting it here as well to see if i can elicit some nominations

I would like to be the moderator of the Apologetics board. Since i think i at least had a small role in its contruction, I have a vision for what it should be like.

What should it be like?:

--not a place where people debate

--a place where people do come when they have problems defending their faith

--a resource of apologetics material (such as website, books, docs, etc.)

--a place where we can consolidate our efforts, especially if we plan on confronting a website

--where we can proof each other's apologetic efforts to ensure that they are as effective as they can possibly be

--where people can come and get excited about defending the TRUTH

--a place where we can keep the focus on apologetics, and place questions, debates, or mindless polls (as fun as they are!) where they belong.

--you know that when you come in here, ur in the midst of some SOLDIERS!!

i understand that you may be leary of giving me this position. afterall, i don't have the apologetics experience that others--like ironmonk, alo, CAF and anna--but i don't think that the moderator necessarily has to be the expert. the moderator's job is to respect the spirit of the board, and i definitely think i'm qualified to do that. i know when a thread is getting out of line. i know what is appropriate for the board and what is not.

plus, i'm really focused on trying to get us to work together better. we only have a couple people doing the major work, and i think that's a shame. so, i formaly apply for the position of moderator of the apologetics board.

thanks for the thought musturde, I appreciate that. I definitly think Max and Just should be one of them. Id be more than happy to do it as well if Dust seems fit.

I have a list of those that would make a great moderator, theres alot of great people on this board, not just those above that I mentioned. Thats a tough call.

if i could bolster my cause, i would like to say that, although i don't have as much experience as some, i do feel as though i have a sound knowledge base. also, i am utterly fervent when it comes to research. if i don't know the answer to a question, i will search and search until i find it. finally, i think that the experts here in apologetics should devote their time to just that, and not necessarily have to worry about maintaing the board. so, that's why i would like to be moderator.
