ofpheritup Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 My father was a carpenter, among other things. He made me a LARGE wooden cross out of JeSus name. The S is the center part. It is about 6 inches thick and was made in two pieces. I also have a LIFE SIZE kneeler. I keep it in my bedroom. He also my made daughter a doll chair and bench. As well as a child's chair with her initial carved into the headboard.
cmotherofpirl Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 (edited) I have the quilt top my g-g--grandma Sarah Foster made in 1846 when she was 16, and a rocking chair my grandpap built around 1912. Edited November 20, 2005 by cmotherofpirl

philothea Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 (edited) I am, apparently, incapable of sentimental appreciation of anything. My coolest thing, then, is the most useful. That'd be the new iBook. (I only get attached to computers and running shoes.) Edited November 20, 2005 by philothea
homeschoolmom Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 My great grandfather made a child size kitchen cupboard for my mother when she was little. It was a Christmas present for her. It seemed so big to her, that she didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was for my grandmother. When she learned it ws hers, she was so excited. It became mine when I was little. My mom had put contact paper on the shelves to sort of spruce it up. When my daughter was an infant, I brought it to our house. I pulled off all the contact paper and repained it (it was red and probably lead based paint). Now it's green. When I was restoring it, I found on the underside a note with my great-grandpa's name and that he'd built it in Nov. of 1944 (I think...) I also have a desk he made and the china tea set my mom had as a child.
homeschoolmom Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 You have a rosary that was actually owned by St. Colette? oh, wait... never mind...

megrc Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I think it's the china that my dad bought for my mom. My mom dosen't like it, but I think it's pretty, it's also the only thing I really have left of my dad.
Totus Tuus Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 My Tridentine missal. Signed by Mother Angelica, Jeff Cavins, Archbishop O'Brien, and Fr. Pacwa. It's a fifties Navy missal, well-worn and surprisingly, I never lost it!
tojo Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 I don't own anything especially cool. I mean I have rosaries and Bibles, but they are run of the mill ones, they could all be easily replaced...
Sojourner Posted November 20, 2005 Posted November 20, 2005 The coolest things I own are artworks. I have a bunch of artist friends, and am fairly involved in the arts community here, so I have several original pieces of art that I enjoy very much. Some have additional sentimental value because of the person who made it -- like I have one my sister painted for me that I really love. Others I enjoy simply because something about the piece appeals to me.
