[quote name='homeschoolmom' date='Nov 20 2005, 03:49 PM']My great grandfather made a child size kitchen cupboard for my mother when she was little. It was a Christmas present for her. It seemed so big to her, that she didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was for my grandmother. When she learned it ws hers, she was so excited. It became mine when I was little. My mom had put contact paper on the shelves to sort of spruce it up. When my daughter was an infant, I brought it to our house. I pulled off all the contact paper and repained it (it was red and probably lead based paint). Now it's green. When I was restoring it, I found on the underside a note with my great-grandpa's name and that he'd built it in Nov. of 1944 (I think...) I also have a desk he made and the china tea set my mom had as a child.

The Purple Heart Medal that was orginally first given to my Grandpa. He has a new one that he keeps in a frame/memory box with his other medals. I'm not supposed to tell anyone else in my family that he gave it to me, otherwise we'd have some jealous people. Another thing is a little light-up mini-grotto that you can hang on your wall that was my Great-Grandma's... it is so pretty :)

Other cool items include the prayer books from the 1940's and my DRV Bible from 1951. Another may be my monster collection of spiritual works. I guess I have a lot of cool things... I know that a lot of my mom's antiques came from my great-grandma's house after she died, and it is all really cool.

I have the Missal that my Grandmother got either when she was married or made her First Communion, I'm not sure which.

My great-grandfather's First Communion Certificate. It's from around the turn of the century and has cool iconography on it. Even though it is from the US, everything is in German because everyone in the area was either an immigrant or first-generation.

And a picture of me with JPII

My body, which will (hopefully) be resurected in the end.
