you could pray the standard protection during the night prayer. its in most catholic prayer books.

i would try to stay out of your bed unless you are sleeping/intending to sleep.

You could try just sleeping with a rosary close by. I do that a lot now.

Maybe find some relaxing music as well. There is some made especially to help with sleeping (and it works wonders to.). Things like cheap Cd's from Target and Walmart can be really good, jsut play them softly (really softly) and leave it on when you want to go to sleep.

LOL... I love St. John of the Cross... i am so overanalytical that would probably actually keep me up because i'd be trying to figure out what the heck he is talking about

leviticus can put me to sleep...

I think at this point it isnt' really not being ABLE to sleep, as I know if I just lie down for a few minutes I'm bound to fall asleep. it's more of a thing where I am scared to go to sleep because of the nightmares...

Definitely praying for you! :)

btw, I offered a candle for you the other day, to Our Lady. I figured you needed it.

God bless you and Mary keep you safe from nightmares. :D:

PS: I can sometimes find night time really tough. When I was little, its when I had my panic attacks :sadder: and sometimes I get insomnia, so I kind of know what sleeplessness is like. The less sleep you get though, means the harder it gets to stay normal. Personally, I've tried all the hot milk/warm bath variety of aids, but I find the best thing to do is to physically exhaust myself during the day, :topsy: I can usually drift off quite successfully. Otherwise, I just grip my Rosary and pray, pray pray - anything really. Just last week, I had huge fears which where impeding my sleep patterns. But after some sensible advice, I could lay the problem to rest, and start living in the present. Its not always that easy though.

I hate nightmares though, so I'll pray to my guardian angel that he tells yours to let you get some peaceful and restful sleep. ;)

Whenever I am having nightmares, I pray that the Lord takes anything around me that is not of him away. Believe it or not, it frequently works.

This is a strange question, but, have you ever had your home blessed? You can just ask a priest if you haven't.

We were having problems with sleeping and the such and we had our home blessed, and it really did seem to help a lot. Also, if our family seems to be "off" we sprinkle holy salt or holy water in all the rooms and pray for protection over our home.

I will pray for you, since I am up now with my 2 year old ;)

I frequently have nightmares. I've had them almost everynight since I can remember.

How's that?

Yeah, I'm sure the tender heart of our Blessed Mother doesn't mind your falling asleep in her arms, so long as you also pay attention to her at other times.
