I don't know that they have. Evidence? Where is the evidence that this oath is required also or that all Popes before Paul VI took it?

The oath is not a requirement, and there was " no refusal". The rites of election etc were streamlined and it was dropped. No big deal.

its not but it has been taken by all popes since well before the middle ages. i just think its weird they no longer take it.

They don't wear the triple tiara either. They are not essentials.

Looking online this is just another one of those issues that is exploited by those who want to separate the flock from the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, using deceptive means to create a mountain out of a mole hill. "GASP! They refused to take the Papal Oath. They must be hiding something".

Yeah, and the people who would do that have hardly taken a papal oath, if you know what I mean.

I'll take the Vicar of Christ over dissenters any day.

Perhaps for the same reason we don't recite the Athanasian creed at Mass. A more fundamental oath is preferred.

Paul VI said that his successor must be crowned, i wonder why John Paul I refused to be crowned.
