He's a kitten--long-haired black with white paws and a white belly. He is the coolest kitten because he LOVES pets and he gives cat kisses. RJ and I have been taking turns playing with and petting him while we watch "I Love the 80's" on VH1 until about midnight. Then we'll watch the ball drop on TV.

Yeah, we helped Pontifex pick out the cat at the local Humane Society about two weeks ago. It's a good addition for him. And a purring cat (loudly purring cat in this case) does wonders for stress.

Sounds like an adorable kitty!!

And... nicely color-coordinated for a priest...!

Yes, the kitty is a nice color, although we do have a stray that we feed from our neighborhood that, colorwise, would have been the best cat for Pontifex. She is all black, with an almost square-shaped white patch right where her body meets her chin. This cat would have been an awesome "parish cat", but for some reason, she and Fr. just didn't have that kitty/owner connection. Oh well!

What's rumspringa?

(Feel free to tell me to go look it up if you'd prefer not to explain. :) )

When Amish teens turn 16, they are pretty much let go to do whatever they want to (dress "normal", drive, smoke, drink etc).... Then they have to decide if they want to be Amish or not. If they come back, they are baptized and remain Amish, if not, they are on their own. It's interesting.
