It takes too much time to understand all this stuff. The best thing to do to believe something is to doubt it. Chesterton even talked about it. I suggest in this situation though, to not leave because you dont understand others but just stay with what you see. Read up on the history and come to your own conclusion.

Come on, you've never doubted your faith? Most people go through a phase like this. It just takes time to get over it. I'll be praying for you Ex.

Look at it this way -- all the more people to make fun of.
(Just kidding.)

I think the church would be better off if Catholics (on whatever end of the spectrum they are -- liberal or traditional) spent less time reading books or flapping their lips and more time in prayer.

I meant his faith right now. Like, don't go crazy over the history if it'll ruin your faith.

But Sam what does St. Paul tell us about divisions in the Church?

1 Cor 11:18-19
18 First of all, I hear that when you meet as a church there are divisions among you, and to a degree I believe it; 19 there have to be factions among you in order that (also) those who are approved among you may become known.
And did Christ not tell us in the Gosepl according to Matthew that both weeds and wheat will grow beside each other? Be not scandalized by divisions. Use them as a moment of grace to grow closer to Christ.
well I am tired of having to figure stuff out. I have no idea what is true, or how to find truth. But i am not some moral relitivist who thinks there is more than one truth. I just have to find it first. But yes i feel that sometimes all these rules are to hard to follow. ALso "The truth will set you free" thats a quote from the Bible. I have never ever felt free.

You know one thing that is true. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Start with that. Look to Him and let the rest fall in from there. Studying theology doesn't make saints; it makes theologians. Jesus makes us saints because of the new nature that we receive as Christians. Whatever you do, please don't let some uncertainty or doubt or something hard cause you to walk away from what you have known to be true.

Do what you feel is right. However, you will feel quite empty if you leave the Church.

Prayerfully decide where to go in your journey. Dont base anything on feelings.

Prayers for you.

Sam,

Heed Ash's words. You're what - 14 or 15? The journey has just begun! Don't quit the faith, instead seek the gift of fortitude from the Holy Spirit.
