catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 (edited) Ok Pham, let's write a story. Everyone writes a chapter. I'll start. Jack & Anne had been going steading for some time now. They were both 17 & faithful members of large devoute Catholic families. Presently they sat in Eucharistic Adoration, alone but for each other and Jesus. "Jack?" Anne asked, "You've been staring at me the whole time we've been here. Is there something the matter?" Jack replied, "Yes, Anne there is; I have to stop seeing you." Through her shock Anne was able to ask "Why? I thought we had a future together." "I did too, but now I feel called to become a priest or a monk." he answered. Anne kissed understandingly kissed Jack's check and silently left the Chapel. "I understand Jack," she said at the door. On her way home that July evening Anne pondered her own vocation- for she had planned oon telling her Jack that very same thing. Edited January 22, 2006 by catholicinsd
MC IMaGiNaZUN Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Jack had been seeing the local Diocesan Vocation Director, Fr. Albert, for the past couple of months. Fr. Albert recommended a Seminary visit, or a visit to the local St. Gabriel's Monastery. Jack was familiar with the Monks at St. Gabriel's, because He would go to their Sunday Mass as a little boy before they moved. "I graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary, its an amazing place," Fr. Albert exclaimed. 'And we got a hell-of-a class this year, you need to meet these guys." "I'll think about it," Was Jack's simple response. He had a wonderful girlfriend, plus he was allready looking into college. As much as he wanted to stay near her, he longed to go out of state, and see the world. So Jack went on, but the thought never left his mind. In fact, he was fighting to forget about it for just a moment. It was so odd, because Anne used to occupy his mind twenty four seven. Some how he just could not get the image of those St. Gabriel's Monks out of his head. But he never mentioned it to Anne. Alarmingly only two days after seeing Fr. Albert, Jack recieved a phone call. "Hello, is this Jack?" "Yes," Responded Jack. The voice continued, "This is Br. Fabian from St. Gabriel's Abbey... Fr. Albert gave me your phone number, he said you were interested in visiting." Jack fought himself to keep from smiling. He had a strange mixture of rage and cheer. Kind of like when he first met Anne, but weirder. "Um well..." Jack interrupted. "Well let me tell you what, we are having Solemn Vespers and Supper. You are invited to come to it, it is this Saturday..."
catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 (edited) Jack was nearly ready to leave that Saturday evening when Anne called him. "Hey, Jack whatcha doing tonight?" she playfully quizzed. "Honestly, I'm going to Vespers and super at St. Gabe's," he replied. Anne answered him, "Really? May I go too?" Jack, unsure if this would be alright came back, "Umm if you're up for a hour on the road to get there, and another back." "Oh, I'm fine with that- we haven't talked in so long," she responed. And so the former item hit the road. The entire drive so quite until Jack pull into the Monastery's parking's alot when his former gilrfriend, blurtted out, "Jack, if you become a priest, I'm gonna be a nun." Laudate_Dominum Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Amazed at this outburtst, Jack sprang out of the car, traversed the parking lot and found himself on a white sandy beach. Anne sat miserably in the car wondering what possibly might have come over her dearest Jack. As a thousand theories and strange ideations fluttered about her mind she resolved to simply wait in the car. For a time at least. Meanwhile, Jack had encountered a ship waiting for him near the outskirts of the glistening harbour. "It's The Pearl", Jack exclaimed whilst in that very moment forgetting entirely his former life. Finally he had found his vocation, finally he had found freedom. A moment or two past when the tranquil peace that had overcome our dear Jack was suddenly disturbed by the prick of curiosity. A faint cadence was encroaching upon the shore from an unknown direction. "Yo ho, yo ho; a pirate's life for me.." The moment that Jack did discern those words he knew it could no one else... Miss Elizabeth Swann..
blovedwolfofgod Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 MIss Elizbeth Swann was an odd young woman. Short and portly with black hair in a bowl cut. "You looka like a man" Jack was confused by the childish voice he heard. He approached her and said "excuse me?" "No, no, no... you a man." "Ms... Swann?" "Yes?" "Arent you supposed to be on MAD TV right now?" She looked perplexed, as usual. Jack was already becoming frustrated.
catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 (edited) Jack had realized his vocation. Miss Swan should it to him- it laid here, at the monastery, not on Mad TV-as he wanted it too. Coming back to Earth, the ever-chillverous Jack open the door for Anne, and escosrted her into St. Gabriel's Dominican Monastery. At the door they were greeted by the Abbot, Father Vernon. "Mr Anderson?" the old abbot asked on seeing him. "Yes," Jack anwsered as Father tightly hugged him. After they had embrassed, teearfully Jack bent his left knee and kissed the ring of the man who become his superior. Making a cross on Jack's forehead Father Vernon asked, "Who is this?" Anne answered and followed Jack's example. After the Vespers, at the supper, the Abbot and Brother Fabian sat with Jack and Anne. Brother had with him a stack of forms. "So, you're entering your senior year of high school next month?" he asked. "Yes," Jack confirmed. "Alright," the Vocation Director said as he wrote, "Do you plan on entering as soon as you graduate?" Jack hesitated as look at Anne for insperation. She gave him an affirning nod and he said yes. After the meal was over and Jack had answered some more questions Father Vernon told Jack, "Alright. As you're under-aged, that's all we can do now." Br. Fabian handed Anne a pamphlet as the two prepared to leave the monastery, saying "Sister Bertha is my counter-part at Holy Innocence." Edited January 22, 2006 by catholicinsd
Fidei Defensor Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 And then, it exploded. (haha sorry, ignore that.. continue)
MC IMaGiNaZUN Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 (the story seems to be going so fast, i wanted to add more hurdles and difficulties to overcome before they would just jump into vocations? It just doesnt seem realistic?) SHALOM
catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006
(the story seems to be going so fast, i wanted to add more hurdles and difficulties to overcome before they would just jump into vocations? It just doesnt seem realistic?) SHALOM
(sit tight) Anne sat in Sister Bertha's office. She felt so outa place, in a building full of chaste women, and looking down at her chasity ring, which she had forsaken, she was so ashamed. Yet for whatever reason she still here, meeting with a Dominican nun, to discuss her entertence into the nunery, dispite the fact she'd given herself away.
Norseman82 Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 But while Jack was waiting for Anne, he was seized by Turkisk military commandos on the charge that he was violating the principles of secularism and sent to a prison in Ankara. The UN security council met but was sharply divided. The US wanted military action to free Jack, but several members said they would veto any military action. China wanted assurances that Jack would be ordained in the Patriotic Chinese Catholic Church, however France proposed a compromise resolution stating "tsk, tsk, the EU doesn't think that was nice". The president of Poland, in Ireland for talks with the pesidents of Ireland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia on seceding from the EU, angrily asked "What ever happened to Chirac's tough talk on using nuclear weapons against terrorist states?". In the White House, President Bush met with military advisors and his theological advisors Pat Robertson and Ray Nagin to ponder his response. Meanwhile, an anxious nation flooded a previously obscure Catholic webiste known only for it's aversion to the letter "f" to offer prayers for resolution of the situation.
catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 When all hope seemed lost for poor Jack, St Michael & John Paul the Great appeared to him, and freed him from that prison. While in earth JP hit Revs Robertson and Phelps on head very hard, so as to shut them up. "Thanks, guys" Jack said as Michael set him down his high school, just in time for the homecoming. With this behind them Jack & Anne began to plan out how they were going to their families of their vocations.
Norseman82 Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Meanwhile, walking back to New Orleans, Ray Nagin decides that the way to rebuild his city is to hold a celebrity boxing match between Revs Robertson and Phelps, with the proceeds going to rebuild the minor seminary there. Jack said, "That's the seminary I want to go to!"
catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 (Could we be just a tad seriouser) The Revs's fight made no money. Meanwhile both Jack and Anne's family were disapproving of their children's vocation. Br. Fabian and Sr. Bertha had againist Jack & Anne's wishes informed their families. The families informed the parish priest they Jack & Anne were disowned, because rather then marry like their parents wanted they choose to follow Jesus. Now Jack, whose 15 minutes had long run out, and Anne were homeless, all this just before Christmas.
Norseman82 Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 The parish priest was shocked, so he reported the parents to the Department of Children and Family Services. Jack now had a place to stay in the seminary and Anne in a convent. To keep the rest of the families together, the judge placed Jack's brothers in the seminary with him and Anne's sisters in the convent with her, then remarked to the parents "youse guys aren't too bright, you know".
brendan1104 Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 then they both lives holy lives for ever. the end.
catholicinsd Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 (edited) No, it's not. However the families came to their senses and welcomed back their children with open arms and gave their blessings to the vocation. Although, this happened after Father Vernon visited the Anderson family and began to hit them with his staff. Mother Lucy, of Holy Innocence, also visited Anne's family, the Cooper's, but she didn't need to get violent. Jack & Anne's senior prom was very interesting. They were both very attractive young people. This prom was not well supervised and there were many many drunk students. Most of drunks were hitting on the couple. "Come on, its prom night" they heard. Around 11 Anne & Jack became seperated. Now Anne was without her pillar, and Jack was without his. They were surrounded by drunks wanting to do unpure things. "Jack!" Anne screamed as one pulled her dress. Jack ran to Anne, and together they left that prom for the Chapel. Edited January 22, 2006 by catholicinsd
Jaime Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 On their long drive to the Chapel, the car was suddenly bathed in a white light. Jack immediately pulled over to the side of the road. Anne looked worried "What is that?" she said. "I don't know" responded Jack."Let's find out" "No Jack. It might be dangerous" exclaimed Anne. "You stay here where its safe" Jack said as he left the car. He walked about 10 feet in front of his Geo Metro and stared into the sky. Anne stared in fear as the light began to grow. It became blinding and then dimished. As she readjusted her vision, she saw a giant space craft. Its doors slowly opened and out came Giant space lemurs. She ducked underneath the dashboard in horror for a moment. And when she finally got the courage to look again Jack was gone!
Pig of Intrigue Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Anne was worried for a short time, but then realized that the spacecraft had pictures of aborted lemur fetuses on the side. "Whew," she thought. "At least I know these are pro-life Giant Space Lemurs. Whatever they do to him, they won't kill him." hoo hoo
Cow of Shame Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Jack groggily awoke several minutes later, lying in a small bin of aromatic wood chips. Getting unsteadily to his feet, he cautiously looked around. It was dim, but he seemed to be inside of…something…and he could vaguely make out figures bustling around him. Peering intently into the gloom, he was startled when a disc of light popped on overhead. One of the shadows slowly moved into the light. His eyes widened as it resolved into a 4 ft….what was that? A hamster? Guinea pig? No, no….wait….he must draw upon all those lonely Saturday afternoons spent watching hour upon hour of PBS nature shows. Prairie dog? A lemming! Yes! A lemming. A lemming? What could they want?
missionseeker Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Jack was afraid that they wanted to convince him that he was lemming - so that he blindly follow the leaders off of a cliff. But then, He'd never seen a 4 ft. lemming. Maybe these were different. After all, he'd never seen a pro-life Giant Space Lemur either. As he was pondering these thoughts, the giant Lemming began to approach Jack.
