I watched the TV special of them building it, the pictures do not do it justice. The roof is copper and the light glows thru it. The crucifix is ancient, and the cross with St Peter is to remind the cardinals the Pope carrys his duty til death. The whole side wall is glass so you can see the 1000 year old walls. The floors are gold marble cut as triangles to remind the cardinals of the Trinity. All the triangles lead to the Cross Simplicity can be beautiful. The rest seem kind of like too much all together A parish I occassionally visit has BEAUTIFUL stained glass and i'll find a few pictures if I can. I mean, it is really amazing...
