WillT
I guess I should have checked to see if there was any icing before I decided to bake a cake.
jgirl
That is unfortunate. The icing is the best part!

shortnun
Well first off... do you want icing or frosting? Icing is thinner and frosting is thicker.
jgirl
I think one of the key ingredients is powdered sugar. You could always go find a Walgreens or K-Mart and get a can.
WillT
I never knew that! Hmm, let's go with frosting!

So, do you have butter? vanilla? powdered sugar?

WillT
I know. Dancing frosting would be awesome! So, shortnun, will you still teach me how to make it from scratch?

Mix the following in an electric mixer: 1 cup of solid shortening (Crisco) (or you can omit and add two more sticks of butter) 1 cup of solid butter or margarine (two sticks) 1 box of confectioner's sugar (standard size... I think it's around 16 oz or something) 2 tsp of vanilla 1/2 tsp of salt 1/3 cup of water or milk (milk tastes better.... add it slowly) Optional: food coloring Yield: A LOT of icing... I would half the recipie if frosting cupcakes, cookies, or sheet cake (but do not half if making a layer cake or want extra to eat!)
