Let's set the record straight on a few points

1) Everyone is in agreement that Fr Altier is a good and holy priest

B) Punitive is spelled with an "i" not an "a"

iii) Camster does not hate old people. He has a deep filial affection for me

IV) No one is saying that all the parishes in the MPLS ST Paul Archdiocese are heterdoxical (like St Joans)

Ok now everybody... group hug

1. Yep

B. Oops....

iii. I love old people....my grandmother was my closest friend until she died, now it is hot stuff.

IV. Not all parishes are heterodox (heterodoxical isn't a word). Just several. If you don't believe me, go there and see for yourself.....they are scary, scary places......

heterodoxical is a word..

in English you can make words whever you want ... :)

like deaconing and deacony.

Deaconing is what deacons do and they are deacony things. :)

Bernie,

This post goes a long way to show how little understanding you really have of the position of the Mass in the life of a Catholic person.

I'm sorry Cam did we ever meet, do you know me. Or is this just another one of your holier than thou judgements. It takes a lot of nerve to call a bishop out, they way you are doing. It is silly to think that a priest should stay in one parish more than 14 YEARS anyway (unless the Spirit leads the Bishop). You should be grateful that he has been there for that long.

I disagree with the Archbishop's judgment. That is perfectly acceptable. I have a right as a Catholic to voice that disagreement.

As it is, my view is fact filled and while passionate, it is clearly stated. What is not clear is the motivation behind him being moved. Considering that the move was in response to issues listed and compitently spoken to, I would suggest rather than attacking me (which is a fallacy called ad hominem), you speak to the issue.

And considering that I am having a conversation with you right now, in message board parlance, yes we have met. Have I met you face to face.....what does it matter?
Why should it be that our own elderly Archbishop is personally thanked by the gay Rainbow Sash movement for his support of the homosexual agenda within the Church, and a good, holy, young orthodox priest like Father Altier gets sent to a nursing home? What a contrast this is!
I have to say this is not a fair assessment of the situation. AB Flynn has made it clear taht it is NOT the homosexual agenda he is in favor of. He has made no secret that he is in conformance with Church teaching on this matter. I have written leter's back and forth with him and understand, though don't agree with his approach to such matters. He believes he can teach dissenters back in to line. The scriptures give some indication that God has a certain amount of patience with dissent but eventually it will lead to apostacy. They must be thrown out. AB Flynn has been patient with these people. Too much so with St. Joan.

I would also like to say that AB Flynn is not ruling with a 2X4 regarding VIRTUS in this Archdiocese. He is quite willing to have preists and parents opt out of the Virtus program and replace it with another.

Bishops are human beings, not individually infallible, and are subject to whims and sins like the rest of us. We may disagree with his decisions, think he is totally wrong, but must respect his right to rule his diocese until he is corrected from above.
Father sounds like a good and holy priest. This may be a test of his obedience and ours, a further refining of his soul, and maybe a saint in the making.

As Cam pointed out this is not a territorial parish, but a national one. Its very common for many priests are assigned to them for life. Our priest has been here for at least twenty years.

Fr. Reiser was at Epiphany from the 1960's until a couple of years ago. He was a very holy priest as well and did great things at that parish. I have to say in retrospect that that parish itself had some growing to do. Their loyalty was to him and not so much to the Church. It was hindering growth I believe.
When he left it caused a great division and I have to say I found the more conservative Catholics to be the most at fault in the issue, though I consider myself generally in line with them on other issues. My advice fo Fr. Altier's parish is however you may think about this issue don't allow it to divide you. Remain charitable. "I must decrease that he may increase" seems to be Fr. Alteir's attitude. I am sure it is, having met personally and talked with the man.
