First of all, thank you to everyone. It was a great day and many commented on how natural and calm I seemed saying the Eucharistic Prayer (the part assigned me). Second of all, since I am now a priest, and no longer associated with a seminary, you can now call me Fr. Brian, since theo in training, was more of a seminarian thing.

So, there you have it Dave, my real name :)

God Bless and thank you all

BTW, first Mass tomorrow at 12:00PM -- pray that I offer the sacrifice to the best of my ability.

Thanks,

Fr. Brian (that sounds so weird still)

Father- even an electronic blessing is valid when done live... perhaps you could give us your virtual blessing/record an audio/visual clip or something...

Accept my veneration of your hands...

always offer the Holy Mass as if it were your first, last, and only time.

In the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit...

O Jesus, our great High Priest,
Hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priest, Father Brian.
Give him a deep faith

a bright and firm hope
and a burning love
which will ever increase
in the course of his priestly life.

In his loneliness, comfort him
In his sorrows, strengthen him
In his frustrations, point out to him

that it is through suffering that the soul is purified,
and show him that he is needed by the Church,
he is needed by souls,
he is needed for the work of redemption.

O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests,

take to your heart your son who is close to you
because of his priestly ordination,
and because of the power which he has received
to carry on the work of Christ
in a world which needs him so much.

Be his comfort, be his joy, be his strength,

and especially help him
to live and to defend the ideals of consecrated celibacy. Amen.

"Fr. Brian" will take some getting used to for all of us. I like it. :) It's much better than Fr. Theologian in Training (kind of a mouthful)

:0) :juggle:

Congratulations again.

YAY!!!!! Congrats Fr. Brian!

Prayers for you :sign: and a poem that says more than I could if I tried.

The Beautiful Hands of a Priest

We need them in life's early morning,
We need them again at its close;
We feel their warm clasp of true friendship,
We seek it while tasting life's woes.

When we come to this world we are sinful,
The greatest as well as the least.
And the hands that make us pure as angels
Are the beautiful hands of a priest.

At the altar each day we behold them,
And the hands of a king on his throne
Are not equal to them in their greatness
Their dignity stands alone.

For there in the stillness of morning
Ere the sun has emerged from the east,
There God rests between the pure fingers
Of the beautiful hands of a priest.

When we are tempted and wander
To pathways of shame and sin
'Tis the hand of a priest that absolve us.
Not once but again and again.

And when we are taking life's partner
Other hands may prepare us a feast
But the hands that will bless and unite us,
Are the beautiful hands of a priest.

God bless them and keep them all holy,
For the Host which their fingers caress,
What can a poor sinner do better
Than to ask Him who chose them to bless

When the death dews on our lids are falling,
May our courage and strength be increased
By seeing raised o'er us in blessing
The beautiful hands of a priest.
