I prefer my 8 hours of sleep, followed by a high-pitch alarm, followed by another half hour of sleep.

lol

I hate alarms. I prefer to use the music alarm. Only, it makes my day have a bad start if I hate the song that comes on. It's better than a meeep meep meep or beep beeeep beeep or whatever sound an alarm makes.

I'd end up sleeping through the music... unless of course it is 1812 Overture, then there is a good chance I'd get up :)

I have to have a couple alarms, especially if I have 7-8 hours of sleep. I'm bad at getting up... :ohno: I enjoy sleep far too much... gets me into trouble... :disguise:

See, with the iPod alarm I have, it would be impossible to sleep through it...it starts low, and then progressively gets louder, so that if you do not catch it in time you are waking up to music blaring in your ear...very effective, if you ask my opinion :)

I use my cell phone as my alarm. It even has a snooze function. 8 minutes. Which, depending on the day, I hit two or three times.

What is this eight hours of sleep you're all speaking of?

According to the link, alarms are not healthy either...

Yeah, Uberman sounds like a bad idea.

Me, too... only I don't use the snooze, I just turn it off and stay in bed an extra 10 or 20 minutes. I can't afford much more than that or 3 of my siblings will miss the bus and/or not get breakfast. My 9 year old sister sleeps like a rock and will not wake up for any alarm and I have to shake her awake about 3 times before she actually gets her bum awake enough and up out of bed.

I don't wake up to music alarms... I just think the song is in my dream!  It takes me sometimes hours to realize I'm dreaming and that it's my alarm.

That happened in the past...a few times...but for the most part I'm fine. I guess if I lived on my own I'd HAVE to use the alarm or make sure I got up.

Oh, I'm certain of that.

What I'd really like would be one of those watches that measures your sleep cycles and picks the best time to wake you up.

I used to fall asleep with the radio on sometimes, and when "One is the Loneliest Number" would come on, I would wake up, because the beginning sounds a lot like a beeping alarm.

I'm serious...it's really annoying.

The idea that you don't mess with mother nature is a pretty sound one. If God wanted you to only sleep a weird schedule linkt that He would have designed "the equipment" to work that way. :)

I have children, I don't need an alarm.
