I agree with your first post, but disagree with your second one.
YOU KNOW, to my amazement i've recently heard of some amazing hook up stories on catholicmatch.com. as odd as it seems, i was like, wow i guess you *can* meet a really nice person on the internet afterall..
Been there, done that.

I feel pathetic saying this, but I've been on that site and avemariasingles.com for several years. I don't think I'm gonna renew my subscription this time.

It may work for some people, but remember, what you see on there is advertising - for every "success story" there are probably countless failures and horror stories.

I eventually got fed up with the continual wishy-washiness and at times out-and-out dishonesty of the "good Catholic women" on those sites.

It is easy to get false impressions of people from online corrspondence, only to have the actual meeting be a disaster.
And once I had to cancel a cross-country flight because the girl called the meeting off at the last minute.
And many are more interested in playing games and flirting than to committing to anything.

I've also lived in a pretty solid Catholic community/parish, and tried taking part in activities - but most "good Catholic" single women are just as shallow and petty as anyone else, no matter how actively religious and "holy" they may fancy themseleves to be.

Yeah, I'm bitter and disillusioned - but just thought I'd give an overview of my experience for what it's worth, before someone else gets sucked in by the holy hucksters running those sites.

Yes its much easier to get bitter and disillusioned with the shallow and petty Catholic girls out there than take a hard look at what shortcomings you might have.

I tire of the whining and the misplaced blame.

*Slowly hops onto speeder bike*

*Turns on the ignition*

*Flies up to max. speed*

*Deliberately crashes into the nearest, largest tree*

Careful, the day may come when you may need an understanding ear, and you will get the same words you dish out.

Walk a mile in another person's shoes. Some people have legitimate beefs; how we treat them might be one of the items we are judged on. Remember, what you do to the least of these, you do to Christ.

I don't need to walk a mile in his shoes. I'm several miles ahead of him. (trans: I'm older and singler)

And if I ever tried to blame my singleness on the idea that the women I met were all shallow and petty, or the Catholic sites I visited were scams, I would definitely hope that someone would use the very same words with me. There's only one constant variable.

Good or bad, I take responsibility for my life. I don't lay blame on anyone or anything.

And I'm probably several light years ahead of you, sir.

There are a lot of people who do all the right things in lifeand they lose out to the people who do the wrong things in life. Care to explain how that is a result of not taking responsibility for one's life?
gosh I hope that doesn't happen

I would HATE to see PM become a place centered around finding "true love." I like it the way it is ... a place focused on learning about the Catholic faith and hanging out. If love happens along the way, so be it, but I wouldn't want this to become a singles site. Ick.
Your funny! Its to bad you can't portray sarcasim in the typed word!

Careful, Jamie. Your experience may not be all that relevant to a person who is not you.
