Budge Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 No I would not. Allah of Islam is NOT Jehovah. I have read the Koran, it is a different being altogether. Capricious, no grace, etc. ALLAH THE MOON GOD
Didacus Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I would pray with a Muslim. But whom I would pray to would remain my Lord Jesus, perhaps through the Rosary.
CatholicMonarchist3 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Absolutely not. The Muslim's Allah is not the Christian God (although Arabic Christians call God Allah, it's not the same). It's like praying with a Satanist.
Mercy me Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 No only would I, I have. On September 11 2001 about thirty people from my office gathered together to pray for the rescuers, victims, our country and our world. We all prayed that the evil that wrought the day's events would be destroyed. By the way, among us were Catholics, Jews, Muslims, and protestants.
KnightofChrist Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I would pray "with" a muslim, praying to Christ as he prayed to what he understands of God, and I would pray for his soul to Jesus Christ what this muslim would come to Christ and His Church.

jswranch Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I do believe they pray to the God of Abraham, even though their view of Him is very different. I would pray with a Muslim in the correct setting.
Budge Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) How many of you would KISS THIS? Islamics do as an act of worship. Edited September 6, 2006 by Budge
cmotherofpirl Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Last week our mayor died after a short and terrible illness, and people have spontaneously gathered in groups all over the city in churches, mosques, office buildings, and street corners to pray for his soul. Nobody asked the pray-ers what their religion was, or if they were praying to Allah, God Almighty, or the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Our purpose was the peaceful passing of a great man, who had a good wife, three wonderful kids, and too soon was going home. So yes there are reasons I would pray with a muslim, or a protestant, a mormon, or a jew.

goldenchild17 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) I would pray with a Muslim. I would pray a rosary with a Muslim. I would take a Muslim to Mass. I would not pray Muslim prayers with a Muslim and I would not make a Muslim feel better by saying we pray to the same God in our own prayers. Edited September 6, 2006 by goldenchild17
Anomaly Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I wonder what the Catholic Church really teaches about this specifically. Can any of you reference the Catechism or Canon law in regards to praying with Muslims. I would think there would be circumstances it would be good and circumstances it would be bad according to Catholic Church theology. People have only expressed their opinion. Citing singular references from Pope's or Bishop's letters aren't usually conclusive as they usually are addressing a particular circumstance.
Budge Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) Isa 12:2 Behold, God [is] my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH [is] my strength and [my] song; he also is become my salvation. From KJV... {Im not a Jehovah Witness--just specificing that Allah of Islam is NOT the same god as the ONE TRUE GOD of the Bible} Who cares about what the Catholic Church teaches what about God? So about 2/3rds here would pray to Allah [of Islam], breaking this commandment with no holding back... Why dont you folks take this commandment seriously? Exd 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Edited September 6, 2006 by Budge
KnightofChrist Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 God's name is Jehovah, Holy Mother Church teaches this as well.
Groo the Wanderer Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006
Who cares about what the Catholic Church teaches what about God?
Um..about 1.1 billion peeps, at last count. Why you have to be so nasty Budge? I for one care what you and your denomination teaches. What is your denomination, BTW? Be nice, be happy, be a brother in Christ.
KnightofChrist Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Praying for a muslim is not breaking the comandment of God, thats what I would do, but I cant speak for others. But where has any here 2/3 said they pray "to" the god of Islam? Praying "to" and praying "with" are two different things. Praying beside a muslim, is not breaking the Commandment of God. I'm sure that same "2/3" would agree Islam is a heresy.
