phatcatholic Posted September 18, 2006 Share Posted September 18, 2006 no crusade will go there, as long as i have anything to do w/ it. it takes ALOT of experience in debate to: 1. recognize a "red herring", or a bait tactic 2. recognize the host of other logical fallacies they will use 3. avoid becoming emotional 4. avoid becoming uncharitable. ....and most people don't have this experience and this type of skill. that's why our approach to Budge and Eutychus has been largely a failure, imho. of course, it doesn't help when your opponent isn't intellectually honest, and when he relies mostly on sensationalism. pax christi, phatcatholic Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have seen anti-catholic fundis like this before. They copy/paste their latest anti-catholic thing.and then copy-paste their responses. They really do not engage in the convo. The moderators have very specific guidelines that they follow (see "Guidelines" in right menu), and any action beyond those guidelines is discouraged. If new guidelines need to be introduced, then that's up for debate. I don't like my moderators to have to deal with micro-moderating accusations, so the established guidelines make things clear on what is/isn't allowed. If you feel that certain members are breaking these guidelines, please use the "Report" button and reference the guideline you feel is in violation. However, to disprove something requires the other side to acknowledge facts, at least some facts. A one way conversation maybe benefit the choir, but doesn't forward the case with the opposing side. How pathetic for Budge, that she is not only full of vitriol, but so unimaginative that all she can do to exercise that hate is to swallow and then regurgitate another's spittle. As her arguments are not at all her own, I don't see why the very reasoned rebuttals to her rants should continue. Also, such hateful accusations (I know, can't we all imagine her stomping up and down, whining, "How dare you say that! I am filled with God's love! FILLED, I say!") have been appropriately answered time and time again. Of course, I haven't been here terribly long, so I don't know the extent to which such trolling is tolerated. But it certainly seems to me that she should no longer be responded to (at least until she can formulate her own sentences), and that we should all join in a rosary recited in a spirit of hoping that her spirit may find peace and joy, as her attitude certainly does not belie it. Perhaps what Budge is fighting the most is herself. There comes a point where one can examine the faith to death. Then comes a time when one has to simply have faith.
