God Conquers Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 So, I'm going to New York this weekend to get away for a bit with a group of friends. We're planning on going to the Cathedral for mass and to the Knicks/Raptors game on Saturday night... What else should we do?> Is it possible to visit the Friars? Anyone know any cool holy things to do there? Peep back!
Totus Tuus Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 JMJ I hope you have a good time! I hope you can visit the CFR Friars. That would be awesome. I Maybe you could see some of the Priests for Life activities, too? Dunno. I really enjoyed seeing Ground Zero. Most of all just take time to walk around the city and see the culture. I thought it was really cool to visit Saint Malachy's Actor's Chapel (located on... Broadway? Somewhere in that vicinity.) It's really small but worth a stop in. Also, close to the ferry is the church of Saint Elizabeth Anne Seton. There's lots of stuff about her life. That's the first time I ever saw electric candles in a church, ugh! But the church itself is pretty cool and historical. And get some food from different stands on the streets. It's really good! You'll walk off all the calories so get something good :-p

I would look at their schedule of activities online and ask about a specific date and time. It's good to be specific with such a busy order!
homeschoolmom Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Just remember: The Bronx is up, but the Battery's down.

I believe they are lighting it up this Wednesday and if you are going this weekend it will definitely be lit by then. And, if you were really bored, you could drop by Jersey and see one of the priests from phatmass Enjoy yourself! God Bless

Sojourner Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Gosh, I love NYC ... If it were me, I'd go to a museum, to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I love the Met ...
homeschoolmom Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I'd just drive up and down all over the place like HSdad and I did when we were there... we went from the Bronx to The Village. It was fun.

homeschoolmom Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 It was, actually. Then we had to stop on some street in Manhatten so that I could drive round and round in the cul du sac... you know, so that I could say that I drove in New York. I was adding states to my collection.
