School Chants We Love Jesus

Indeed pardner. I think this is a bad example of our right to say Christ's name in public. Your university example is a good one though. We sort of get that at my so called Catholic school. *Sigh* what has the world come to?
Thanks for your post hot stuff. It allowed me to get my feeble mind around what is really bothering me about this episode.
Granted there is a difference. But political correctness has caused us to shy away from saying the name of Jesus is my point. Maybe this isn't a good example but should I go in to a place where Jews commonly hang out with a shirt, Jesus loves you? It might offend them. Probably will. But I have no problem doing it. It's the PC thing that is bothering me in this episode. I don't think we are only supposed to speak the name of Christ when are lives are in danger. In fact we have far less reason to speak it and we don't commonly. PC keeps us from it. I think I have flushed out what bothers me about this. A catholic school should be able to say the name of Jesus at a basketball game in the right context. They should have a big crusifix up in their gym. This all of course no matter what school comes to their territory. Many Catholic schools and hospitals have even taken crusifixes down from the walls. Okay, throw the book at the litle monsters in this episode. I've got it worked out and articulated it. I don't like sensitivity training because of it's pc nature and would like their desire to say the name of Christ channeled in to appropriate circumstances, i.e. like every day of their lives so that when a school shows up they are going to know that is what this school stands for.

I agree.

I have mixed feelings on this episode.
On the one hand, if these kids were using the name of Jesus simply to taunt their opponents, that at least borders on using the Lord's name in vain.

However, there does seem to be a general p.c. move to disallow saying or showing anything remotely Christian so as not to "offend" non-Christians. (While anything non-Christian is generally considered okay.)

My question is, if some Jews (or other non-Christians) started taunting their opponents by mocking Christ, would they have to receive "sensitivity training"?

Concerning Socrates' final point here, I think THAT is the ultimate question that must be answered. If Jesus was slandered in a massive way in public by non-Christians, what would their punishment be? Would the authorities actually do anything

Instead of just sticking with the specific incident, manipulate motives and extend hypothetical conditions into something else. What likely reason would a group of students have to chant "We Love Jesus" at a sports event between these high school?

To say to the other team that cause they have Jesus and they don't, their team is like totally loosing mang. Forget Gatorade and Air Jordans bra. Your team needs some Jesus. :soccer:

I think it was wrong for them to use the Name of God irreverently. I wonder if they bowed every time they said "Jesus".
