Although I consider my diocese to be fairly orthodox, my CCD education was abysmal, and didn't prepare me to defend the Catholic Faith against the most basic challenges. While it's nice to learn about other religions, what use is getting to know them before we have some foundational understanding of our own beliefs? A Sunday Mass in Ordinary Time would have been better.... or schedule a special "worship service" for that I agree with you - that would have left me feeling more than a bit irked.
