The crook means that she was an abbess. Wasn't there a St. Brigid of Ireland who tried to get the pope back to Rome?

Nope... not St Brigid... she is from a country next to Spain... they share a border...

missionseeker

it was St. Brigid of Sweden who got the pope back to Rome. St Brigid of Ireland was right ater St. Patrick. (In fact, she was baptized by him)

Her guardian wanted her to marry, but Colette was drawn to religious life. She initially tried to join the Beguine and Benedictine orders, but failed in her vocation. She had visions in which Saint Francis of Assisi ordered her to restore the rule of Saint Clare to its original severity. When she hesitated, she was struck blind for three days and mute for three more; she saw this as a sign.

Colette tried to follow her mission by explaining it, but had no success. Realizing she needed more authority behind her words, she walked to Nice, barefoot and clothed in a habit of patches, to meet Peter de Luna, acknowledged by the French as the schismatic Pope Benedict XIII. He professed her a Poor Clare, and was so impressed that he made her superioress of all convents of Minoresses that she might reform or found, and a missioner to the friars and tertiaries of Saint Francis.

Helped Saint Vincent Ferrer heal the papal schism. She was known for a deep devotion to Christ's Passion with an appreciation and care for animals. Colette fasted every Friday, meditating on the Passion. After receiving Holy Communion, she would fall into ecstasies for hours. As for the new one...

Hints:
I chose her in light of the weather I am currently experiencing.
She and her father did not get along so well.
According to legend, she left this world with a bang.

St. Barbara
Beautiful maiden imprisoned in a high tower by her father Dioscorus for disobedience. While there, she was tutored by philosphers, orators and poets. From them she learned to think, and decided that polytheism was nonsense. With the help of Origen and Valentinian, she converted to Christianity.

Her father denounced her to the local authorities for her faith, and they ordered him to kill her. She escaped, but he caught her, dragged her home by her hair, tortured her, and killed her. He was immediately struck by lightning, or according to some sources, fire from heaven.

Her imprisonment led to her association with towers, then the construction and maintenance of them, then to their military uses. The lightning that avenged her murder led to asking her protection against fire and lightning, and her patronage of firefighters, etc. Her association with things military and with death that falls from the sky led to her patronage of all things related to artillery, and her image graced powder magazines and arsenals for years. One of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.

While there were undoubtedly beautiful converts named Barbara, this saint is legend, and her cultus developed when pious fiction was mistaken for history.
He loved to work, great at gaining funds, took care of all people and rose over diversity.

God bless-
