The IVE (Instituto del Verbo Encarnado -- the female branch (sisters) are under the name "Servidoras del Senor y la Virgen de Matara") brothers and the priests wear black cassocks as their habit. In hotter countries they may wear lighter colored cassocks (like khaki or grey), but traditionally, they wear black. The monks wear white habits -- which kind of remind me of a Trappist habit, but all white.

Although I must confess that some of the varieties of headgear --veils, coifs, guimpes, etc. -- not only look a bit bizarre, it seems to me that huge amounts of time must have been spent in starching and ironing them, and how they managed to do anything [even eat!] with them on is beyond my imagination. It is almost as if there was some kind of competition in the 19th century for "weirdest form of headcovering" [img]http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/public/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif[/img]
