Jaime Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I remember when I had a quick answer for everything! Those were the days....
Knight of the Holy Rosary Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 "You cannot possibly be happy in heaven" ...Is it just me or does she not seem happy now? Her logic is very faulty. In paradise, the Beautific Vision will be enough to make us happy for eternity. She thinks as man thinks and not as God thinks.
Didymus Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 (edited) silly girl. You can't base an entire argument on the proposition "Some religions believe this..." and then claim you will shatter the faith of all who believe in heaven and hell. I'm getting real sick and tired of the idiots on the web who think they can claim and argue whatever they want and really not know what the devil they're talking about. I guess it's what you said Jaimie, but I've seen people well into their thirties and forties claiming farfetched garbage like this. Sometimes the best answer is "Go read a book or two" Edited May 17, 2007 by Didymus
Ash Wednesday Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Well, there you have it, folks. The world now stops. All theological discourse worldwide has been called off, the pope has turned in his mitre, the Dalai Lama has renounced his robe to join Hell's Angels, and humanity has been spared the task of pouring over the writings of the world's greatest philosophers and thinkers, including Einstein, because, well -- a 15 year old girl on YouTube has now proven that heaven doesn't exist. President Bush will be holding a press conference shortly, at 10 p.m. EST.
jckinsman Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 This world is full of stuff like this! I think that it actually proves that satan exist! He works overtime on our youth! So not to fret........just sit back on the beach somewhere with the sunset in front of you. A cool breeze, a foo-foo drink and relax......Gods got it under control! JC
Didymus Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 i dont even think she's been influenced by the devil as it is she thinks she knows everything about logic just from surfing stupid internet sites and watching MTV instead of reading what people have been saying and teaching and discovering about the higher things in life for thousands of years.
Sojourner Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 OK This thread is not what I was expecting ... thankfully Bare: Naked Bear: To hold up, support Grammar matters!

Mateo el Feo Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 She spent a whole minute warning me that my illusions to be shattered by her simple logic. I just had to listen to her wisdom. Well, young Jessica has shown me the light! No more illusions of heaven and hell for me. Now, maybe I can be happy like Jessica.
Didacus Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007
I bet her 10 bucks that heaven and hell exist
Oh come on hot stuff... what good will 10$ do you in heaven? "Mon seul bien, est de m'accrocher a Dieu." "My only good, is to attach myself to God." Saint Augustine - City of God If those I love detach themselves from God so much that they are in hell, then they are not within God who is love, and thus any love I have for them will not reach them. If they are no longer in God, in the Love of God, then love of them is inconsequential to my hapiness which lies in God alone. It is an oxymoron, but God cannot contradict Himself. Thus, all who are dignified of love, are NOT in hell, and if I have a sliver of love for any man, then this man shall be in heaven if my love is true. Comes down to that "Can God make a rock so big even He cant lift it" thing. But I must add; for an 18 year old girl, she sure asks herself serious questions. As long as she keeps asking, she'll eventually find the truth. I ain't worried about her at all. The Truth shall come to those who seek it, and I have the impression she seeks it. Didn't bet with her though, but maybe a mention of Pascal's wager may be a good response to her 'logic'? Bet ya it is!

The rabbits maybe... But NOT the bears. PS: I just noticed I surpassed 4000 posts..... Now back as you were... (free T-shirts for everyone in the lobby) Edited May 17, 2007 by Didacus
Clare Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 The video made me wonder.... does the fact that you might not be perfectly happy in heaven necessarily lead to the conclusion that heaven does not exist? Logically, it only means that a heaven of perfect happiness does not exist. This girl's reasoning is flawed in more ways than one. She does not realize that seeing God will make us totally happy and she does not even use logic correctly. Someone should tell her about Pascal's wager.
XIX Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 (edited) I personally believe there may be sorrow in heaven. Somebody stop me if I'm being heretical though. "Happy is a yuppie word" --Switchfoot Edited May 17, 2007 by XIX
