Mateo el Feo Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007
I personally believe there may be sorrow in heaven. Somebody stop me if I'm being heretical though. "Happy is a yuppie word" --Switchfoot
I don't know of any Church document (e.g. a council document or a papal encyclical) which speaks about this question. The following is a link to the Summa Theologica (from the supplementary portion):Question 94. The relations of the saints towards the damned The Catholic Encyclopedia states:
In heaven there is not the least pain or sadness; for every aspiration of nature must be finally realized. The will of the blessed is in perfect harmony with the Divine will; they feel displeasure at the sins of men, but without experiencing any real pain.
The Catholic Encyclopedia distinguishes between "sadness" and "displeasure", and the nuance of meaning they are suggesting makes sense to me.
Paladin D Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 (edited) Holy carp. I don't understand people who broadcast themselves on youtube like this, with a webcam staring right at their emotionless face. Not only is it boring, it's repulsive. Even more repulsive when the garbage that's coming from your mouth doesn't make much sense, and is very hypocritical. "If heaven and hell don't exist, than most religions don't exist" ???? To be objective, if heaven and hell don't exist, why does that automatically mean that religion doesn't exist? Even false religions exist! What does this mean!? Maybe my brain is inferior, or this junk is too moronic for me to comprehend. Edited May 17, 2007 by Paladin D
White Knight Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 (edited) She had no "absolute" evidence in her claims, only people who dont Trust in God's COMPLETE ability to block sorrowful thoughts in Heaven will be effected by this, and most of all, if God can't do something like this then He ceases to be God. Hes God because He can do ALL things that are above the ways of Man and even what Men can Do God can do better because he wouldn't be if he couldn't. Not sure where it says in the "Catechism of the Catholic Church" but I can tell you that the Prophet ISAIAH reads "His Ways are above our ways His thoughts are higher than our thoughts" thats somewhere in there. This girl obviously doesn't understand what shes saying, nor does she Trust in God's Ways and Methods. She needs to realize that God is God, He can do all things, and that Hes Creator of our existance, so if God can do this, why couldn't He do something more complex in Heaven. She needs a good talking too by some Preists and Nuns to get her "edujumacated" (Educated) properly on these subjects. Edited May 17, 2007 by White Knight
Guest Strikah Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Logical?? A 10 year old could come up with that conclusion. That vid is pretty sad; if you're gonna try to disprove heaven then please spend some time thinking about it. Then again she looks 10 years old lol. Stuff like this doesn't bother me, just makes me pity them. But what can we do? Can only pray for them, right?
CrossCuT Posted May 17, 2007 Author Posted May 17, 2007
OK This thread is not what I was expecting ... thankfully Bare: Naked Bear: To hold up, support Grammar matters!
I was thinking about those two words intently before posting. I chose 'bare' and looked it up at dictionary.com because I wasnt sure. The first definitions were the naked ones, but further down they started talking about handling, or carrying. So I chose it. AND NOW I REALIZE THEY CHANGED THE WORD HALFWAY DOWN THE PAGE...why would they do that?? Oops.
