yeah, I'll tell you what, I wholly and without reservation suggest the "Being Catholic" section of the site. The only material that some might find questionable is on the "For Catholics" section or on the forum.

I am so mad I couldn't make it to St. Boniface this sunday for that. :( If I had remembered that was going to be this sunday, I would have so made sure to be there.

Gorgeous pictures! What a great First Mass! Well every Mass is great because of Who's there, but... ;)

I think it's technically white ornamented with blue representative of Mary. Blue is not a liturgical color, but has been allowed in Mexico I believe for feasts related to Mary, but not here... I don't know whether it was ever a liturgical color back in the day, but I imagine that it wasn't; so I'd have to say that's a white vestment and the blue he is wearing is an ornament over it symbolic of Mary. like how a vestment could be ornamented with flowers or whatever, it's ornamented with blue.

though I must say, that's clearly a solid blue thing he's wearing, only the lace underneath is white... so I am really not sure.

In the East and in the Sarum Use blue is a liturgical color, but not in the Ordinary or Extraordinary Roman Rite.

Blue has been permitted in Hispanic countries, Spain especially comes to mind. Also, that's the Institute's choir dress/habit. It includes blue, yes in honor of the Blessed Mother.

Nevermind. Did a little digging and stumbled upon the Institute of Christ the King's website.

fisheaters is a good site, i so no reason why one cant link to it?
whats there to be afraid of?
one CAN question the outcome of the Second Vatican Council, even the motives, and still be totally Faithful.
its all soooo organic...ya know?:)
as a bit of a thought
for example, The Vatican has allowed by mandate ,the new,'Institute of the Good Shepherd' in Bordeaux, France, under Jean-Pierre Cardinal Ricard,(founded by a former Society of St Pius X Bishop and leader)an institute that exclusively use 1962 Missal (the "ancient Liturgy of Rome, syays the document), and usages as their proper(not as a concession) Rite under the Commission pontificale Ecclesia Dei,meaning never has to celebrate a Novus Ordo Mass,(unlike the FSSP turmoil) while agreeing it is a valid mass-anyways, they are mandated to critque! the Council and its documents, in healthy questioning, study and debate, book publishing.....

I'm sorry you weren't able to make it. :sadder:

I only got like two hours of sleep the night before so I almost didn't make it too! My wife started singing "follow the yellow brick road" and I was instantly motivated to get out of bed.

If that doesn't make any sense I'll explain. A couple weeks ago I slept in and we missed Mass at St. Boniface, we ended up going to a nearby forma ordinaria Mass in which the priest, following the Gospel reading, played a recording of "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" from the Wizard of Oz movie (he played the whole thing), and to the sound of munchkins singing this priest walked around the sanctuary encouraging the congregation to sing along. There were other strange abuses and the congregation didn't kneel during the Liturgy of the Eucharist! Let me just say it was an extreme contrast from what I'm used to and I can't believe there are priests out there who have the nerve to denigrate the Holy Mass in this way!! I suppose this priest journeyed to Oz and was given "da nerve" by the wizard, but I only wish he would have been given the heart and the brain to conform to the mind and spirit of authentic Liturgy.

jiyoung,

It was St. Paul's parish across the river. There is a priest there who I talked to in the past and he seemed orthodox to me but whoever this other priest is... never mind.

That parish is now on my black list and I warn other area residents to avoid it if they can.

I only went there once or twice, and while it was never as bad as what you experienced I didn't really like going there unless it was my only option.

Yeah, I went there a few times over a year ago and people actually knelt and a different priest said that Mass (he actually had decent homilies). I am saddened by the apparent decline of the parish. :sadder:

I used to consider it to be comparable to Holy Rosary (perhaps slightly better in the area of music) but times have clearly changed.
