fides quarens intellectum Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 He'd never want to tune anyone out, so i don't think He'd use it unless He were busy building something by Himself. in that case, He'd be rocking out to - Jars of Clay - "Dead Man (Carry Me)" Jimmy Needham - "I Am New" Matt Maher - "All Glory to God" Shane McDonald - "The Rider on the White Horse" Shane Barnard - "737" Shane and Shane - "Song of Surrender"
ardillacid Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 I would have to go with Limp Bizkit's album Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water.
scardella Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 My second guess is that he'd listen to the song that doesn't end, set up to loop forever so that he'd be able to claim that he's the only one who's actually heard the whole thing.
HotRod Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Now i got this picture in my head of Jesus with ipod headphones in singing along to DC talk - Jesus freak.

I couldn't emagine what Jesus would listen to... If I look at my iPod, probably the more contemporary stuff...

I mean, it actually rocks.
RobeofJustice Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I guess since he has heard it all before then the question is really about what he enjoys hearing over and over again. Definitely something worth contemplating. Thanks Soccer Girl!

Seven77 Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007
You need to get out more. I imagine Jesus would listen to anything that glorified God the Father and creation. I immediately thought of some of Mozart's works, like Laudate Dominum or something. Or "Beautiful Day" by U2, or "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. As the Lord found creation to be "very good"
good stuff!
chatbox829 Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007
If by this question you mean if our Lord was living on earth today rather than when He did, this is an impossible question. Had our Lord not become incarnate 2000 years ago the history of the world as we know it would be radically different both religiously and secularly. This question seems to imply that He would be incarnate now rather than 2000 years ago, but had he not become incarnate 2000 years ago there probably would be no iPod today. Now, if by this question you are asking if there had existed an iPod 2000 years ago in the Roman province of Palestine, what would our Lord have listened to, I would probably say He would have listened to chanted versions of the Psalms. If by the question you meant if our Lord had become incarnate again today after having already become incarnate 2000 years ago (which would be dogmatically impossible unless this were His second coming, in which case, He would judge the living and the dead and the world would end) I would say if He owned an iPod, he would not have any secular music at all on it because most if not all secular music is at least venially sinful, with much of it being mortally sinful. He would probably listen only to the chants of the different Catholic Rites singing Him, His Father and His Spirit praises.
can we say over thinking the point 1st off not all secular music is bad evil whtever u want 2 call it think about it secular means not related to church not unrelated 2 God or love ... songs about true love dont even have 2 mention God but when u think about how much God loves u dont u think of a parents love ??? well an example of this is a song i hate but it still will work 4 my point ... 4 example the Irish song Danny Boy is from the point of view of a father singing 2 his son who has been called off 2 war however the father says tht he will love his son and tht his love will continue ???? where in this is this SECULAR song evil bad immoral???? if im crazy tell me so but i c nothing wrong w/ this song except 4 the fact tht it makes me think about funerals .... long story.... but i do NOT think all secular music is evil 2nd if Jesus had an i-pod dont you think he would have some classical music on it and u cant tell me tht all classical music is religious and another thing im willing 2 bet tht there is some secular music tht Jesus would not have a problem w/ other than wht i've mentioned
cathoholic_anonymous Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 REM's Losing My Religion started to play on my CD player just as I was reading through this thread.

That movie was about my high school (well loosley based off of my high school) But the writer was the teacher there and it's a MUCH better school. But that was funny, I forgot about that song. That reminds me I wonder if he'd listen to anyone like Weird Al or Nick Alexander, he's GOT to have a sense of humor!

johnnydigit Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Gregorian chant during those solemn moods, benediction hymns throughout the day, Christian rock when feeling energetic or snowboarding, Christian praise when full of glee, top Christian when having a good time with friends, a Christian mix for driving or on the subway.. some voice recordings directly from His Father..
i dont think Jesus would have gone with the popular mainstream brand such as the ipod but listen to all his songs on an underdog brand like a sandisk mp3 player Its cheaper and he was against the riches of this world
haha true. i actually use a cheapo Hyundai mp3 player ($25/1gb) because it reads alphabetically by filename. most mainstream players don't even do that. he would also roll with over the ear studio headphones. probably someone who donated Sennheiser's.
