Some women use their wedding gowns to make Christening gowns for their babies. There's a lot of material and then each baby can keep their gown and pass it on to their children...

See, you can wear/use it more than once!

I know some girls who got their dress and it was actually a Quinceañera dress. They are like wedding dresses only they are a little cheaper.

I don't know what you are looking for but you know, if it is going to make you happy then spend the extra money. It is the one of the only days you get to dress like that. You know the whole princess thing. And you will be able to show pictures to your little girls (when you have them ;)) and let them wear it. How awesome would it be to see them walk down the aisle with your dress on!! I am sure it would bring back the same feelings that you will feel when you walk down.

Anyways....can I see a picture of it when you pick it out? ^_^

I was lucky enough to find my perfect dress the relatively cheap way--David's bridal haha--but not everyone has a cheaper option a short drive away. (And not everyone who does finds their perfect dress there.) If you still feel really uneasy about it look around at a couple more boutiques, if you're still not happy with what they have at least you gave it a shot. In the end you'll probably be happier for spending the extra anyway. lol

Also, T-Bone said it'll be an heirloom, your daughters and granddaughters may want to wear it one day. I would have loved to wear my grandmother's or mother's dress but Grandma was fairly larger than I was, and I don't know what happened to Mom's dress but it was a tad.... late 70's early 80's... not my thing. Matt even suggested I wear his mother's dress--one of his sisters in law had worn it a few years previous--but location and sizing were an issue.
I got mine at David's Bridal, too!
How long did it take you to find a dress? How much time should someone allow? Anyone can answer this btw!
It took me about 10 mintues to pick out the three dresses I liked and about 2 hours to decide between two of them.

I know a woman who used her dress to make her daughter's First Holy Communion dress. :))

Yeah, I think we stayed there about 3 hours trying stuff on but the one I ultimately decided on was the second one I chose and tried on. It was the one my Mom, aunt, and the other lady shopping with her daughter all cried over. lol I also like it the best.

everytime you look at your wedding pictures, you want to smile and have no regrets.

you won'[t remember so much that you scrimped in certain areas, but you'll regret it if you don't absolutely LOVE your dress (it's in almost every picture too)

and yea, a wedding dress is so worth it.

To be honest I would have probably done the wedding dress shopping by myself or maybe with a friend, because I'm overseas and my mother passed away (jeez I've mentioned that a lot this evening...sorry.... ) so it wouldn't have the same family ceremony in that regard, either.

So I feel a lot more at ease everyone! Thanks -- I know it will be fabulous. :)

Ash, I know what you mean about your Mom. I find myself thinking a lot more about my Dad as this baby gets closer and closer. I don't mind you mentioning her. It's a great way to honor her and to remember her :) And I know she's sharing this with you in spirit!

Haha, the day I went shopping, I saw it in the first salon window we went to. Magic :P

If you can't find something that you love and go the custom route, see if there are areas where you can cut some of the cost.

Believe me, I understand about being so sensitive about spending a ton of money. I cried several times to Micah about how guilty I felt because the dress was expensive (in my opinion). He finally just put his foot down and said I was getting the dress because I deserved it.
YESSSS! I totally freaked out when I bought my dress. It was 1,100.00 total, and it was worth every penny. Everytime I look at our wedding photo's, I am soooo glad I bought this dress.
