Archaeology cat Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008
Oh, I won't be around. I was thinking of being a chaplain for clown school again, but even if I don't, I have that week off as well.
That's too bad. Oh well, another time perhaps.
Theologian in Training Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 (edited)
the trick is to rotate before kids don't get board. Whenever you add something new "retire" something for that meeting.
But, I do more than just video games, and have a lot of other "circus/performing arts" skills that I can teach them. I not only know how to juggle and make balloon animals, I can also show them how to use a marionette, or even basic puppetry, teach them a few magic tricks, teach them how to make napkin roses, and for the more daring, how to ride a unicycle. I have not even introduced these things yet, and will wait for the boredom to set in before doing so BTW, that is only a few skills I can name off the top of my head, I could also show them make-up, physical clown comedy, hat juggling/manipulation, contact juggling, and a couple of other things I am sure I have forgotten. That is why I am not too worried about boredom Edited April 6, 2008 by Theologian in Training
desertwoman Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 That is the sweetness Father. I know they will have a blast with DDR.
Theologian in Training Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 So, now that we have the Altar Server's, something that took a lot of work, we now need to educate them. My pastor and I are getting tired of the blank stares when asking for a "paten" or the "purificator" being called "that napkin thingy." What I have decided to do, is twofold. First, I need more steady attendance, and so have started to award perfect attendance with a little trophy. However, as an added incentive, especially to have them learn terms, those that have perfect attendance are eligible to get an even bigger award. After talking it over with my pastor, we have decided on gift cards, from Best Buy, Dunkin Donuts, Barnes and Noble, AMC Theaters and iTunes, ranging from $15-$25. What I have decided to do is for those who have perfect attendance to give them the opportunity at winning one of those cards, the catch, however, is that they will need to work for them. In other words, they will need to know the terms, parts of the Mass, etc. I have not yet done this, but will figure out how well it works after our meeting on Monday. I would imagine it would give them incentive, but time will tell
drippingyellowmadness Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 this has nothing to do with this topic.....but i LOVE ALTAR serving me and my brother are the main altar servers at my church....well i am because he ''retired'' the ropes are too small.
Theologian in Training Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 So, I had the meeting and fun night tonight. Seems the gift card idea was a good one and I'm thinking attendance will be better next month and I may be giving out more cards next time. DDR was a hit as was Rock Band, and, as always the juggling and balloons. The Wii was not as popular this time around. Fun night!
