apparent Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 (edited) She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can separate you.. Not time, not space...not even death! MAY WE NEVER TAKE OUR MOTHER FOR GRANTED. CatherineM Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I haven't gotten to see her in almost 4 years, but she is slowly appearing to me every time I look in the mirror.
Archaeology cat Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 (edited) Mother's Day was in March here (it's always the 4th Sunday of Lent here). I was given whiskey. Edited May 1, 2008 by Archaeology cat
CatherineM Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Also remember to say a prayer for those women who have lost children, either before or after birth, and those who tried in faith to conceive, but were never blessed. This time of year can be very hard for them.
apparent Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 An optimist sees the glass as half full... A pessimist sees the glass as half empty... A mother sees the glass of someone who didn't finish their drink, pick up their glass, or put it in the dishwasher.

There is no limit to a mothers love for her children. Sometimes love is harsh, sometimes it is a sword. Sometimes it's a cross. Mothers (and Fathers) are bound by flesh and blood to children of there own, pray for unity and closeness. "Sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child." These words of William Shakespeare (Cf. King Lear) remind us, by contrast, of the respect and gratitude that we owe our parents.

I wouldn't call it made up stories and imaginative opinions. We may hear about men who have been the abusers more often but they don't have a monopoly on it. As a parent its hard for me to imagine anyone treating their children like that, but I am not going to deny that they are out there.Thats just foolish.

Having had foster brothers with an abusive mother opened my eyes to that. Though being a parent, I can't imagine how one could do anything to their children.

apparent Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Which U.S. President said, "My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw"? George Washington, the first President of the United States, once said, "My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her."
